A lie by a friend puts Leah in the firing line with the police. Scott feels increasingly alienated in his relationship with Hayley and Cassie’s challenge to Ric gets a shocking result.
Extended Summary
Cassie tricks Rick into trying to steal a jet-ski and leaving Ric to explain to the owner. Ric’s upset, but Cassie says he’s been acting like a wet blanket lately. Ric decides to prove himself by getting a tattoo. Cassie realizes he’s not the good-two-shoes she thought he was. She announces she’s going to get one. Ric tries to persuade her not to – only a wuss would copy. But Cassie goes ahead and does it. There’s even blood. Ric’s shocked. His was a fake! He was joking. Cassie reveals she was joking too! There’s playful banter, eyes meet, they’re about to kiss, when Ric pulls away – remembering what happened last time.
Jesse’s been released after his assault on Brett. Leah put up the bail money. She tries to advise him to reform but he’s short with her and leaves. He confronts Brett again – warns him to watch his back. Leah finds Jesse drunk on the beach in the middle of the day. She tries to get through to him to no avail. Alf confronts Jesse about his treatment of Martha, and the assault charges. Jesse puts him back in his box. Alf fumes. Jesse breaks in to the resort office and smashes the place up. Brett finds it wrecked and knows who’s responsible. Constable McGrath goes to question Jesse about it but Jesse says he was with Leah. Leah has to lie for him. She’s furious. Later on, Alf finds the Club closed in the middle of the day. He finds Jesse passed out behind the bar. Flamin’ galah!
Hayley got baby-sickness and the two boys are looking after her. She makes a crack about the tot having two fathers. Scott’s increasingly uncomfortable with Hayley. He thinks she’s living in a fantasy world, imagining the baby can have two fathers. Hayley’s going for an ultrasound with Kim. Scott thinks he shouldn’t come. Hayley won’t hear of it. Kim says he’s got no problem with it either. But Scott’s still uncomfortable. At the clinic Hayley asks if they’d like to know the sex of the baby and Scott says yes. But Kim doesn’t want to. Hayley goes along with Kim. Then the sonographer mistakes Scott for the father. When Hayley sees the baby, she reaches for Kim’s hand, not Scott’s. It’s all awkward for Scott. He feels out of place. Later on he has it out with Hayley about her attitude. Maybe it isn’t going to work and they should put an end to it now? Hayley is shocked…
Matilda and Cassie are at the beach with Diesel and Matilda’s falling for him. Cassie tries to talk Matilda up to Diesel in private, but he doesn’t seem interested. Cassie doesn’t want to disappoint Matilda so she tells her there’s still a chance. Cassie sneaks back in to Summer Bay House and gives Ric the fright of his life. They nearly get caught by Flynn. Ric has to cover for Cassie. The next morning both Cassie and Ric have to lie to Sally. Cassie still can’t work out why Diesel’s not interested. She’s about to tell Matilda the truth, when Diesel walks up and says he is interested. He wants to take her out. Matilda’s thrilled. Cassie’s curious. Diesel tells her he just changed his mind that’s all. Cassie’s unconvinced.
