How we got here: Johnny Cooper

Johnny Cooper had just stabbed Sally Fletcher, was now on the run for the police and nowhere to go, so surely they'd be no one who would help him. Wrong! At the end of one episode we see Johnny welcome someone and the next day it is revealed that it was no one other than Sam Holden. Sam decided that the one place that the police wouldn't think about looking was the in her father-in-laws house. With Lucas having recently moved to Uni, the annexe was empty and Sam asked Tony if she could use it for her never heard of before hobby of painting. Tony agreed and Sam hid Johnny in there.

However, Sally hadn't been the only one that Johnny had been after and when Ric and Matilda came around for some hanky-panky, Johnny his chance to have some fun as well and went to take his revenge on Ric. Sam came around to check up Johnny and saw this happening. She was initially going to let it go ahead until her conscience got the better of her and she hit Johnny over the head with a cricket bat. (It is believed at some point between these events Johnny had attacked Sam).

Johnny was put into intensive care and when he came around he started mumbling about a bed, referring to a note he had left under the bed explaining everything. Sam, worried that her secrets would be found out and with the note no longer there, decided she had to get rid of Johnny once and for all. So, she changed syringes on Nurse Julie, a fatal dose proving fatal for Johnny.

Soon after, a note turned up for Jack, which Tony had found in the annexe, believing it was an old letter Lucas had written for him. Jack started reading it and Sam's murky past was revealed.

If you're reading this, that means that Sam Holden has shafted me. After the hiding I just gave her maybe I can't trust her anymore so I'm writing this as my insurance to make sure she gets what's coming to her.Her story about not knowing her husband Shane was dealing drugs was a lie. The truth is she was the one who got him into it. She started by nicking amphetamines from the hospital and then it just got bigger. Morphine, heroin and all the way through it Sam was calling the shots and running the show. Shane never knew what hit him. The cops knew that she was involved and when Sam realised that they were on to her, she cut a deal with them. She agreed to testify against Shane and pinned everything on him, then left him to do the time. That's why he was so desperate to get his hands on her. If you don't believe what I'm saying, just ask yourself why she'd risking everything by hiding me right under your nose and if you want hard evidence, the cops have it. They buried it, but it won't be too tough to locate. Trust me, my story checks out and if you are reading this and I'm dead or missing, then you don't have to look any further than your own bed.

xxJohnny.

In an instant, Jack's trust in Sam was broken and like an out of control train we careered to the end result.
