Emily Symons Back on Set
After six months maternity leave, Emily Symons has been spotted back on-set, filming new scenes as Marilyn Chambers alongside her on-screen husband Shane Withington, who plays John Palmer.
Photos have recently emerged of Emily’s return on popular photo-licensing websites. These photos show her sporting a new hairdo as well as wearing a free-flowing, colourful dressed, coupled with a bangle, large earrings and black high heels.
Onscreen, Marilyn left for an around-the-world trip having been involved in an electric accident, recovering from retrograde amnesia that left her mind stranded in 1996 and renewing her vows with husband, John.
Offscreen, Emily returns to work after she and her partner, Paul Jackson welcomed baby Henry into the world last year.
Her return marks her fifth stint on the show. Having first appeared in 1989, she continued in the role for three years before quitting to marry British musician, Nick Lipscombe.
After the breakdown of her marriage, she returned to Australia in 1995 where she resumed her role, which resulted in the controversial romantic pairing of Marilyn and Donald Fisher. The couple married and eventually welcomed baby Byron into the world, before he succumbed to brain cancer. She left again in 1999.
Having made a brief cameo in Home and Away in 2001, when the show filmed in London, Emily gained the long term role of barmaid Louise Appleton in Emmerdale. She remained in the role for eight years.
She returned to Home and Away permanently in 2010.
Her return scenes are expected to air in mid-2016.
