Jackson Gallagher Film to Air at Tropfest
Not only is Jackson Gallagher a talented actor, having worked in front of the camera on popular Australian series, Home and Away and The Saddle Club, but he’s now taking a step behind the camera.
Jackson has co-produced and directed a short film, entitled Ben’s Filming the Movie, for Tropfest Australia, the world’s largest short film festival. Of the main character Ben, Jackson told TV Week, “He loves movies and he’s watched hours of films and recreates them from start to finish playing all the characters. The film is about his love of acting.”
Behind the scenes, Jackson is also a seasoned stills photographer and cinematographer and has continued to develop his skills when he’s not working on Home and Away. Alongside Ben’s Filming the Movie co-producer and partner, Andrea Browne, the two have combined their skills in directing and photography and founded Ada Lane Projects.
But Home and Away fans needn’t worry! Jackson isn’t venturing too far from Summer Bay at the moment. He will continue on as Josh Barrett on the popular Australian drama.
Ben’s Filming the Movie will compete against 15 other short films, and the winner will receive a prize of $10,000 and a trip to Hollywood. The judging panel this year includes Gold Logie winner, Rebecca Gibney and homegrown A-lister, Simon Baker.
Originally cancelled, the revived festival will take place at Centennial Park in Sydney on Sunday, 14th February.
