What is Josie’s secret agenda? Dani lashes out at Jesse and could Kane be the next Shakespeare?
Extended Summary
Robbie disturbs Rhys at home, packing the last of his things. There is tension between the two. Robbie declares that he never wants to end up like his dad, or Rhys. He’s disgusted by his behaviour. Rhys tries to talk but Robbie orders him out of the house.
Irene is cleaning out the rubbish from the Beach house when she discovers Kane’s essay on Hamlet. Kirsty tells her to get rid of it; she can’t hand it in and she doesn’t want to cause any more trouble with Kane. But Irene takes it to Sally who promises to read it – despite the fact it’s covered in tea-bag stains!
Irene has also come to air her concerns about Josie. She reckons ‘cyclone Josie’ is forming off the coast, and is about to head for shore. She tells Sally all about Josie’s story and then says her attitude is simple.
She’s not a prude, but she feels that this woman is not the kind of influence Tasha needs in her life right now. Sally warns Irene not to jump to the conclusion that Josie has a hidden agenda. Tasha is a great kid, and Josie is related to her. Why wouldn’t she want to get to know her better? Irene just wants to be reassured that Flynn will contest the guardianship. Sally assures her he will.
Meanwhile, Josie is charming the residents of Summer Bay. She gets Robbie on side straight away, and holds court at the Diner. Alf says she’s exactly the kind of person they need in the Bay. After everything that’s happened, smiles are in short supply.
Dani is re-opening the Kiosk, much to the chagrin of Jesse. She tells him that as long as the license still belongs to Rhys, she’ll fulfil his duties. She’s given up studies for the semester to do so. Scott warns Jesse he should give Dani a wide berth for the next couple of days. Dani tries to co-opt Kirsty into helping, but Kirsty refuses; she has no time. Dani launches a tirade against the hypocrisy of the Summer Bay Sally reads Kane’s essay and declares it the best things she’s seen since she’s been at Summer Bay High. With very
little persuasion, Kane decides to go back to school. He’s doing it because he wants to please Kirsty. He also wants to be able to look back on his life and say that he made educated choices.
Beth pleads with Dani and Scott not to let the community’s attitude towards Rhys and Beth, divide them. She offers to be the one to support Dani at the Kiosk. Dani is overcome. She breaks down in tears. She just wants to believe in people again.
Sally has offered Dan Baker the vacant counsellor position at the school. Dan accepts – as long as Hyde is in favour of the move.
Tasha comes sailing into the Beach house and drops a bombshell on Irene; Josie is going to talk to Jesse about being a partner in the bar. Irene is pretty certain she’s just heard the sound of cyclone Josie hitting the shore.
