Everyone in Summer Bay wants to be a movie star. Vinnie decides to undergo radiation therapy. Will disapproves when Peta asks the bag lady to stay at the house.
Extended Summary
Annie is delighted about staying with Peta and when she comes out of the bath is much cleaner and tidier. Will suggest a Doctor examine her because of the severe cough she has. Annie says she could not afford to see a Doctor. They explain that Peta’s gran died six months ago and that Annie could use her card, Annie agrees to this suggestion. James arrives to see Annie and he tells Peta that her Gran has a serious case of bronchitis and will need to stay in bed for a week. Will in James’ hearing asks about the Jury duty her gran was to do. James says he will write a medical certificate, as she is too ill to attend. Peta decides to let Annie stay until the bronchitis is gone but Will thinks this is a mistake.
Chloe turns up at the beach house with her possessions. She tells Irene that James ordered her out of the house and gave her ten minutes to collect everything. Chloe asks Irene is she considers her selfish. Irene says that yes she can be dammed selfish as all of can be.
When James go to the diner he sees Vinnie eating a slice of cheesecake. James goes up to Vinnie in full view of the diner and tears strips off of Vinnie telling him how sick he feels at Vinnie attitude towards his cancer treating it as a big joke. Vinnie is very upset but goes round to James’ to tell him he will have the radiotherapy.
Landsdowne is becoming popular in the Bay with everyone excited about the film being made in Summer Bay. Alf considers Fisher is making a mistake allowing On the Crest of a Wave being made into a film. Vinnie manages to give Landsdowne his CV and tries to talk him into giving him a role. Fisher sees Marilyn practising the lines she did when she was in The Importance of Being Earnest. He tells Marilyn how he hopes that Landsdowne will employ good actor’s not local talent, as he wants the film to be the best it can be. Marilyn is slightly hurt at this and tells Fisher that Landsdowne is a talented man who will not ruin the film. Landsdowne goes round to the Stewart house where he smarms up to Alf and tells him that the character that was based on Alf has a major part in the film and he imagines Sam Neil playing the part. Landsdowne also tells him he would like to use the Surf Club as a location, Alf is delighted as he knows money will be involved.
Alf and Vinnie discuss the film and Alf teases Vinnie that he doesn’t stand a chance of becoming a star. Landsdowne gets Alf on side, buttering him up about the major role Alf’s character has in the film. Landsdowne then asks about using the Surf Club as a location. Alf’s ears prick up as Landsdowne indicates that there may be money involved.
