A misunderstanding has Vinnie declaring that he and Jesse are no longer mates. Peta tries to make amends with Will. James plans on opening a surgery at home – clearly something Chloe is not thrilled about. Alf believes that Jesse and Natalie are having a secret affair.
Extended Summary
Thinking that Jesse told Gypsy about his condition, Vinnie asks Jesse to leave the hospital room. Gypsy explains that Rachel let the secret out about Vinnie’s illness. Jesse tells Gypsy that it isn’t her fault, it’s just that Vinnie is very sensitive about his illness. Gypsy swears not to tell another soul. Later, Vinnie tells Sally how worried he is about the future, and how he won’t be the man he was. Sally says he’ll always be the V-man to her. Sally asks Vinnie if he wants to hear something funny and reveals that Vinnie called out Justine’s name when he was coming out from the anaesthetic. Vinnie tells Sally that she’s his one and only and that he is over Justine. Vinnie’s mood seems to improve. Vinnie apologises to Sally for acting badly and asks her to invite Jesse over for a visit. Later, Vinnie tells Jesse that he wasn’t happy that Gypsy knows about his condition, but he understands. Jesse and Vinnie make peace.
James tells Chloe that he has plans to open a surgery at their house so that he can give his patients better service in a friendlier environment. James even goes back to the hospital later that night to check on Vinnie’s condition. James then asks Vinnie why people still go to see Dr Harris, the local GP, and Vinnie says it’s because people can see Dr Harris in his lounge room, not at the hospital. Later James asks Chloe to work as his receptionist, saying that she would be able to look after Olivia at the same time and still go to university. Chloe appears to James to be enthusiastic but is clearly not. Later, Chloe asks Ailsa whether she could ever work with Alf. Ailsa laughs, saying that it would be a nightmare. But when Chloe tells Ailsa about James’s plan, Ailsa says that it could work but they should talk about it first.
Will is upset about Peta. Hayley realises that Will was really interested in Peta, and admits that she told Peta that Will had asked her to go down to the diner to give Sam and her some space. Will is doubly upset. He finds Peta at the diner and tries to explain that there’s been a misunderstanding. Peta tells Will that she couldn’t understand why he wanted to talk to her to start with until Hayley explained it. And it’s a shame, because she thought he was a really nice guy. At home, Will is upset and says Peta is stuck-up. Sam and Hayley collaborate to get Peta and Will together. At school, Hayley convinces Peta that she was wrong and that Will really likes her. Peta is worried that she may have blown her chances with Will. Hayley and Sam arrange for Peta and Will to sit next to each other in class. Will is not impressed. After class, Peta summons her courage and apologises to Will, leaving the ball in Will’s court.
Alf asks Jesse pointed questions about his ‘lady friend’, trying to find out details of his ‘affair’ with Natalie. Alf is under the misconception that the two are secretly seeing each other. Jesse thinks that Alf has discovered that he and Gypsy are an item, but he tells Alf that if he does get a girlfriend Alf will be the first to know. Later, Alf visits Jesse’s place to discuss keeping the bait shop open longer hours. Really Alf wants to catch Jesse with Natalie. Sally interrupts their conversation, saying that Vinnie wants to see him. Jesse leaves straightaway and Alf can’t understand what the big deal is – it’s only Vinnie!
