Shane and Damian plan a party. Nick’s attempts at stress relief end in disaster.
Extended Summary
Alf is furious with what Shane and Damian have done with the water bed. Shane and Damian talk about what they should do. Alf does not like people avoiding him and they realise that they would not be able to go to any place in the Bay if they avoid him. They think it is best to face him.
Shane and Damian are at the Diner with Angel. Sarah tells the boys that Alf is furious and that he wants to see them. Sarah leaves the Diner and Angel runs after her. Angel tries to make up with her, but to no avail. Angel realises that Sarah would not be with Damian and Shane if she is around, and she realises that Sarah would not talk to her at all.
Damian and Shane go over to see Alf, and are given a lecture of hell! He says that they have cost him money but they don’t have any. He says they can do deliveries free for the next few weeks. Just when they are leaving, Alf asks them where they are going; he tells them they are not going anywhere until they have taken the water bed out and brought the old bed back.
Nick wants to do something else and comes up with football and basketball. Luke points out that he should be avoiding competitive sports. Nick tries to think of something else. Beth comes into the Diner and Luke introduces him to Nick. Nick comes up with something – golf. However, there is a problem: they have no gear. Ailsa advises they ask Alf but Luke thinks it would be pushing their luck. She says that while Alf has a bad back, he won’t be using them.
Sam tells Damian of Haydn’s sudden departure and Damian asks Michael is this true. After being told that he had left, Damian gives out to Michael, telling him he should not have brought him back. Pip intervenes but Damian does not apologise. He asks her about Fin and says he is going to find her. She tells Michael that he does not mean it. Michael tells her that he has a point.
At the Stewarts, Nick looks for the golf clubs and finds them. Alf advises Nick to go back to fishing, and asks him to look after his gear. They head off to play golf, but get caught up in heavy traffic. Nick loses his patience and Luke tells him to take it easy. Nick says he is calm. A car behind them then crashes into the rear of his car. Beth is the driver who has crashed. She suggests calling the police and Luke tells her that Nick is the police. Their problem is that the bumpers are locked into each other and Nick says that they need a lever to separate them. He grabs Alf’s putter and bends it, but succeeds in breaking it!
Sam and Christopher are playing shooting using their hands as guns. Pip tells them they do not play guns in this house. Sam tries to show her they are pretending and shows her. Pip tells her they do not play with guns at all in this house, because they are dangerous. They continue, and Michael shouts at them, asking did they hear what she said, and tells them to play with something else in their room. Pip tells him that was unfair of him to do this, and says that she is trying to keep things calm. She says that they have not spent enough time with each other. Michael thinks she is blaming him, but she tells him she is just saying, and they should start thinking of themselves for a change. She suggests going out for a night. He asks can they afford to go out, but she asks can they afford not to.
Damian comes home and Pip tells him that they are going away. Damian tells Shane that Pip and Michael are going away for a night. Shane suggests they have a party at the Rosses. He tries to drop hints that he would like to have a get-together in the house, but she does not understand what he is asking. Damian eventually tells her straight out that he wants to invite friends over and she says it is OK, and that he must clean up the mess.
Back at the Stewarts, Nick hands Alf’s gear back to him and shows him the putter he broke. Nick tells him he will buy a new one, but Alf asks him how, as these putters are not made like these any more. Alf tells him he won four competitions with this putter. He asks him what was he doing with this putter anyway. Nick tells him about the incident and that he was using it as a lever. He says it did not work and that it probably pushed his blood pressure higher. Alf is furious and tells him that after the day he had, he does not care about his blood pressure: he is more worried with his own blood pressure.
Damian begs to Sarah to come to the party. She is reluctant because Angel will be there. He tells her there’ll be a lot of people there and she should forget about Angel. Sarah gives in and agrees to come. Meanwhile, Shane is asking Angel to come. She asks about Sarah but he persuades her to come, and she agrees.
Damian pops into the Diner and tells Shane that Pip and Michael are gone now. Shane shows him the list of the people he has phoned. Damian tells him that it is too many people. Shane points out that it is not often he gets a free house, and asks him is Sarah coming. Damian says yes, but is he starting to have second thoughts…?
