Marilyn is doing a bit of schoolwork in Alf’s store while working there. Alf isn’t impressed.
Fisher comes in. Carly comes in later. Fisher finds out from Carly that the kettle he gave her and Ben is still not working.
Carly will send a letter to “fight for her right as a consumer” since she couldn’t get a new one on the warranty as the company claimed the warranty was out of date. Carly doesn’t believe that really. Fisher tells Carly he can take care of it instead (since he doesn’t want Carly or Ben to find out that he actually got the kettle for about two years ago. He feels a bit embarrassed about the whole thing since Fisher gave it to them as a wedding present). Carly insists that she will take care of it.
Fisher owns up to Alf about the kettle and that it really is out of warranty. It was a graduation gift which some students gave him! Alf has a good laugh about it. Fisher feels very embarrassed about it (music plays).
Blake and Sophie get on really well while they are collecting cans with Karen and Sally. Blake meets Matt. Blake wants to join the surf club. Sophie wants to do that too. Matt is surprised since she hasn’t shown any interest in that earlier. It is obvious she is doing it to be with Blake. Matt gives them two forms to sign in order to join. Sophie says that she will fill in her form later on. Blake is a bit puzzled. Sophie will do it later as she can’t read.
Sally and Karen find more cans at the surf club.
Carly explains to Ben that she hasn’t found a photocopier that is working as the one in the library was not working. She needs a photocopier to copy the letter she wrote as she will send a fair bit of letters out to a lot of places apparently regarding the warranty of the kettle. She will have to do it later.
Blake, Karen, Sophie and Sally drop off more cans at Alf’s store. Blake and Sophie realise they both like cricket. They will play some. They will borrow some cricket stuff from Alf.
Sophie and Blake want to go to the movies together later on with Karen and Sally but they are a bit short on cash.
Karen speaks to Blake about Sophie. Karen teases him a bit about Sophie. It is obvious that Blake and Sophie like each other. Meanwhile, Sally teases Sophie about Blake too.
Sophie and Sally speak to Ben. They are a bit down because they don’t have enough money to go to the movies with Blake and Karen.
Sophie comes up with an idea to earn more money with less can collecting. She puts heavy metals (which she took from Ben that he said was used engine parts) in the sacks with the cans and hands it in to Alf. Since he pays by the weight of each sack they get a lot more money now. Sally doesn’t like the idea but agrees to it anyway.
Karen nearly got run over by Fisher driving his car since Blake were mucking around with the cricket bat and the ball ends up out on the road so Karen runs out in the middle of the road and Fisher nearly hits her with his car! Fisher and Blake yell at each other.
Ben notices some of the engine repair parts is gone. It is the ones that Sophie took since she thought he had no use of them!
Fisher gives Ben and Carly a brand new kettle. They are very grateful. After a while when Carly says that she will still post her letters to teach the company (which made the kettle) a lesson, Fisher owns up about the old one that he gave them earlier as a wedding present. He explains all about it.
Sophie, Sally, Blake and Karen play cricket out in the caravan park. Dag-Dog is there too. (happy music plays)
Alf notices that the sacks with the cans are very heavy and Matt notices that Alf may have been ripped off! Alf talks to Sally, Sophie, Blake and Karen. Sophie and Sally pay him back some money and they say that they thought the metals would work as recycling as well!
Fisher, Ben and Carly laughs about the kettle disaster. Alf gives Ben his engine parts back. Ben is happy about that.
Sally, Sophie, Blake and Karen play some more cricket. Blake does a real strong hit with the bat and when they go to find the ball they notice it has smashed Fisher’s windscreen on his car which is parked in the caravan park! Fisher, Alf, Ben and Carly see it. Fisher is very angry!
