Extended Summary

Grant orders breakfast at the Diner and needs a coffee instead of herbal tea for a change. He tells Bobby about Lorraine Jensen storming into the surf club. Apparently she’s afraid of Paul turning out like his father. Grant doesn’t want to see Paul’s musical talent go to waste. Alf and Ailsa arrive and Alf is upset about Bobby’s election campaign posters appearing all over the store. Bobby says she had nothing to do with it but Alf wants the posters gone by noon.

At the Fisher house, Viv is worrying about Tammy and Steven thinks they should tell Fisher. Donald overhears and asks what. Viv tells him she had a call from Tammy but she ran out of money before she could say where she is. Donald starts to call the police.

Tammy comes across a coach with passengers loading their luggage underneath. She picks up a book for an old lady who asks if this is her bus as well. She says Tammy is young to be travelling alone and hopes she’s not running away.

At the Jensen house, Paul and Lorraine are doing the dishes. Lorraine tells Paul she wants him to have a normal life. They said his father had talent and look what happened to him. Grant had no right filling his head with crazy dreams. Back at the Diner, Grant tells Bobby that Paul definitely has what it takes but Lorraine hasn’t even seen him play. Bobby thinks he should tell Donald and mentions how proud he is when he hears Rebecca playing. She suggests giving Paul a job playing at the Diner so he can make some money but Ailsa refuses to interfere in a family matter.

Chris Hale lectures Viv for not coming to the police sooner about Tammy’s letter that suggested she was planning to run away. Donald sees him out and Viv tells Donald that if she’d said something her father would have come and brainwashed Tammy with emotional blackmail and taken her home again. She cries and Donald hugs her.

The drivers are distracted by a late arriving passenger. Tammy seizes her opportunity to run on board the coach and hides in the toilet.

Viv jumps up to answer the phone, hoping it’s Tammy, but it’s Bobby wanting to speak to Steven; she has an urgent job for them. Viv somehow jumps to the conclusion that Tammy is at the Diner and Bobby wants to surprise her! At the Diner, they are disappointed to find out Bobby wants them to take the posters down at the store.

Tammy comes out of the toilet and takes a seat next to the woman who introduces herself as Mrs. Gibbs and offers her a sandwich.

Lorraine Jensen comes to see Donald and tells him there’s a problem with Grant. Donald finds Grant at the surf club and agrees that Paul is a very talented musician but tells Grant he needs to stay out of it; he’s exceeding his authority as a teacher. He tells him how Paul’s father became bitter when he realised he wasn’t good enough and blamed Lorraine and the kids. Then came the wife-bashing and he almost killed Paul. Grant says it doesn’t have to be the same for Paul but Donald says they have no right to interfere.

Bobby is still trying to convince Ailsa to let Paul play in the Diner when Ailsa gets a phone call from someone called Margot Dean and seems shocked. Viv and Steven are struggling to get the posters off of the doors at the store when Ailsa runs in and tells Alf she has to go away to see Margot who she was in prison with. They go home and Alf doesn’t understand why Ailsa has to rush off. Ailsa says she owes Margot; she looked after her when she was inside.

On the coach, Mrs. Gibbs questions Tammy as to whether she really has a sister in Summer Bay. She’s worried about her as it’s dangerous for a girl her age to be travelling on her own.

Viv and Steven return to the Diner with an invoice from Alf for Bobby to pay for the razor blades they used to get the posters off! Bobby offers them a free lunch but Viv is desperate to leave. Bobby tells Grant that Ailsa is going away for a while so they can get their piano for the Diner but Grant tells her Donald has told him to butt out.

The coach pulls up at Yabbie Creek and Tammy says goodbye to Mrs. Gibbs. She makes her escape as the driver is loading Ailsa’s suitcase. Alf says goodbye to Ailsa and Duncan and they get on board and wave. Tammy hides behind some plants and looks terrified.
