Andrew Gardner completed a Bachelor of Journalism at the University of Wollongong before studying an Advanced Diploma in Screen Media at the International Film School in Sydney in 2011.
Before entering television production, he was the Chief of Staff at UOWTV, covered the Australian Special Olympics and completed a journalism internship at the Nine Network. In the second half of 2010, he became a Digital Producer for Sky News Australia – a role in which he stayed for almost three years.
After leaving his job at Sky News, Andrew was employed as a production runner on the second season of the Seven Network series, A Place to Call Home. Afterwards, he became a Location Assistant for the Essential Media series, Australia: The Story of Us. In May 2014, he became the Script Department Intern on the second season of the Fremantle Media series, Wonderland, and, after it’s cancellation, he moved across to Neighbours, where he acted in the role of Script Coordinator and Researcher for just under eighteen months.
Andrew joined the in-house script department of Home and Away as a Script Coordinator in February 2016. He remained in the role for a year, before being promoted to Script Editor.
Andrew finished up as a Script Editor at the end of 2019, with his final episodes airing in mid-2020. He remains a freelance writer for the series.
Over the last six years, Andrew has also been a writer/director for the independent production company, ScreenInk, and had produced many films, both short and feature, as well as advertisements, music video and webseries.
