Andrew was one of Gypsy and Jude’s lecturers when they were studying for their HSC at TAFE. He consistently gave Gypsy higher marks than Jude even though they’d been working together, which Jude suspected was because Andrew found Gypsy attractive.

Unknown to anyone, Gypsy was pregnant by Will at the time. She arranged a date with Andrew and had coffee with him, concerning Jude and Shauna who felt Andrew was a sleaze. Gypsy seemed to share the opinion, bringing an abrupt end to the evening when he took her out for dinner, but kept up the pretence, pretending she had been on a lunch date with him when in fact she’d been on the beach alone. Andrew turned up at the drop-in centre to ask her out, causing Shelley to realise Gypsy had lied about seeing him earlier. However, Shelley assumed Gypsy just wanted people to think she was happier than she was.

Gypsy invited Andrew back to her place, where Vinnie walked in on them kissing and quickly made himself scarce. Realising the incident would be enough for people to assume they’d slept together, Gypsy asked Andrew to leave and then broke up with him. Her marks notably dipped as a result but Gypsy didn’t make a fuss since she realised her marks had been raised because of Andrew showing her favouritism and the new marks were fair.

When Gypsy’s pregnancy became common knowledge, most people assumed Andrew was the father, which Gypsy made a point of neither confirming or denying. When Don told Andrew about the rumours, he angrily confronted Gypsy, warning her not to spread rumours about him. Shauna confronted him about his treatment of her and he insisted that he wasn’t the father and would sue Gypsy if she claimed otherwise. Shauna didn’t believe him but the encounter convinced her that Gypsy was better off without Andrew in her life.
