Brian was the husband of Lorraine Robertson, and thus the brother-in-law of Barry Hyde and uncle of Kim, who was unaware of her family history and knowledge of Kerry’s death. When they arrived home unexpectedly whilst Kim was inside their house, he and Lorraine were approached by Tasha on the driveway, posing as a new neighbour and asking them for information on local services. Brian was left talking to her while Lorraine went into the house. He later entered himself, saying he had sent Tasha away, and failed to notice Lorraine ushering a hiding Kim out of the house.
