Official Backstory:
Greg had a whirlwind relationship with Sam’s mother, Jackie Nicholls, when he was eighteen. Jackie was a bit of a goer and didn’t seem too pertubed when she found out she was pregnant. Greg was scared of becoming a father with all the commitments that entailed, and was very relieved when Jackie let him off the hook. It had been fun she said, but she didn’t expect him to marry her. She told him she would stay with her parents who were being very supportive.
Feeling like he had been given the biggest reprieve of his life, Greg moved interstate and started truck driving. He never stayed in one town for long before another load would need hauling somewhere else. It was a decent living but it had a lack of permanency which Greg missed.
He never forgot his liaison with Jackie, and always wondered how the pregnancy turned out. At twenty five, he felt a need to meet his child. He began the search for Sam which led him to Summer Bay…
