Ethan was the head of the Student’s Committee at Reefton Lakes High School, a school that went head to head with Summer Bay High in 2002 in a race to not be closed down. He was also, unbeknownst to Brodie, the head of the Student’s Committee at Summer Bay, the prinicpal of Reefton Lake’s son. He first appeared at a sports day organised between the two schools.

They continued to work together to save both schools, however after the bus crash and Don’s hospitalisation, Patricia was left to submit the report to the department. She however submitted a dramatically different one than what she and Donald had agreed on and Ethan was horrified when he came across this on his mother’s computer.

Ethan then helped organise the sit-in at the high school, using his computer skills to set up a website on the internet that provided live streaming of the event over the web. It was at this event he declared his love to Brodie, who wasn’t over Miles at that point and was slightly upset. However she soon realised that Ethan’s advances were in the best of intentions and thanked him. When the department found out about the sit-in, they sent the police around and along with Don, Seb and Flynn, Ethan was arrested for resisting police arrest. However, due to his clean criminal record, Ethan was released.
