Mr Laing was a member of the review panel from the Department for Education who went to the school to look into Brad Armstrong’s conduct in the Naomi Preston case. Mr Laing questioned Brad about why he didn’t immediately suspend Naomi as soon as he found out about her relationship with Lucas Holden. Mr Laing thought that Brad should not have kept Naomi on staff during an investigation and that his first duty of care should have been to Lucas. As a result, Mr Laing stood Brad down from his role as Principal pending further investigation.
