When Belle’s search for her mother took her to Kitty Lansdowne’s place, she and Ric saw Joan, Kitty’s housekeeper, entering the house.Belle approached her and asked her if she was her mother.Joan said she wasn’t and denied all knowledge but after Belle had gone she phoned Kitty to tell her of the visit.After Belle and Ric had visited the house again and spoken to Kitty, Joan asked Kitty what had happened and Kitty replied that Belle thought her mother was dead and would never know the truth, telling Joan to replace the photos of Amanda.

Some time later, after the truth about Amanda being Belle’s mother had come out and Belle had gone missing in the helicopter crash, Joan visited Summer Bay to see Amanda and told her that Kitty was sick in bed with worry, having had a severe asthma attack.She told her that, while Kitty had down the wrong thing, she deeply regretted her actions and persuaded Amanda to visit her and put aside their differences.
