Lara was a studious student at Summer Bay High, but Sally began to notice that she was becoming tired in class, she was falling behind with the work and her appearance was become rougher.
She borrowed Seb’s calculator to do a Maths assignment, but never got around to doing. She was adamant however that there was nothing wrong. Seb said that she was asking other kids for sandwiches and that he thought there was something seriously wrong at home. Later that day Lara dropped round the drop-in centre. Flynn left some shopping on the floor and when he wasn’t looking she ran off with it.
Flynn caught her a few days later eating someone’s leftovers on a plate at the diner and asked her what was going on. She said she didn’t need help. Flynn and Sally then went around to see Lara at home, but only Lara’s younger sister was at home. As they were leaving they bumped into Lara, who told them to leave or she would call the police. Lara later apologised for her behaviour to try and get Flynn and Sally off her back.
Sally and Flynn went around to see Lara again to give her some books for class. Lara’s mother, Lindy, was there and when Sally told her about Lara’s performance, they offered to help.
Later the following year, Lara ended up on Seb’s team at an orienteering event and they started hanging out together. One day when spending the day together, Lara was showing Seb some of her dancing that she did as a hobby when they ended up kissing. Lara was unsure if she had done it right as this was the first time she’d ever kissed anyone.
However, Seb’s eye quickly strayed back to his old flame Kirsty and realising it was a mistake, Seb quickly told Kirsty it had to stop and told Lara the truth. They successfully won a dance competition in Summer Bay, but after that Lara decided she couldn’t be with Seb after what he had done to her.
