Leo Simms was an Irish criminal who was first seen when Robbie discovered an intruder during the night at the beach house.He brushed Robbie aside and hurried for the exit but had more difficulty fending off Tasha, who grabbed hold of him and almost succeeded in capturing him.A few days later, he was disturbed at the beach house again by Irene, pushing past her out of the house as she arrived.The police suspected he had come back to finish what he started.(It was later revealed he had been employed by Corey Henderson to lace Irene’s sweetener with mercury, as part of his revenge plan.)
Later, Robbie heard Leo talking to someone on the phone in the Diner and realised he was the burglar.He sent Tasha to get help then, when he and Leo were alone, he locked the doors to the Diner, managing to keep Leo there long enough for Tasha to arrive back with Alf.He was taken into custody and Amanda, who had faked a break-in at her flat a few days earlier and claimed the intruder had tied her up, was invited to the station to see if it was the same man.Despite not having seen him before, Amanda managed to pick Leo out in a line-up, having heard what he looked like.Leo admitted to the break-ins at the beach house but denied being responsible for attacking Amanda.
Security camera footage showed that Leo had been at the RSL when Amanda’s place was allegedly broken into.He was released on bail and, as he left the police station, whispered to Amanda that she’d pay.He then turned up at Leah and Dan’s place, where Amanda was staying, while she was alone and attacked her but during the struggle he noticed some financial papers she’d been studying and realised she was nearly bankrupt and had faked the break-in for insurance purposes.He told her unless she gave him $5000 he would go to the police.
Amanda met Leo that night but had only managed to get hold of $3000.Leo was angry and, as a scared Amanda tried to leave in her car, he grabbed hold of the vehicle.Amanda hit the accelerator, causing Leo to lose his grip and fall, banging his head on the concrete.Amanda realised the fall had killed him, so dragged his body into the undergrowth and planted her jewellery in his pockets before faking a break-in at Dan and Leah’s and planting Leo’s bandana so it would like he was responsible.His body was later found by the police who assumed he had simply tripped and hit his head.
