Simon was a boy Roo met at a dance and the two began dating. Bobby gave him a job in the Diner, but Alf subsequently sacked him after finding out that he had been in prison. Morag investigated Simon and informed Roo that he had been in jail for armed robbery and had beaten a guy senseless during the raid, but Roo refused to listen and continued to see Simon.
When Morag informed Celia of Simon’s crime list and she realised arson was on it, Celia was overheard gossiping about it and word got back to Steven who accused him of burning down Celia’s store. An angry Simon decided to leave the bay, hurt at her accusations. He returned a few days later with flowers for Roo and Alf agreed to honour his agreement to give him a job in the store.
He was set up by Dodge and Steven who lured him alone to the beach and then attempted to set fire to Morag’s house and dropped his necklace at the scene. Roo defended him in court and Alf put up his bail, but Simon decided to make a run for it, unable to face going to jail again. he left a note for Roo under Celia’s door.
Four weeks later, Simon sent Roo a letter stating that he wouldn’t be appearing in court, but would pay back the money Alf spent on his bail and solicitor.
