Episode 871, airing on 7th October 1991, saw the year's final change to the opening titles, with five new characters added. Blake Dean and Sophie Simpson, who had both been relegated to the closing credits in previous weeks, were reinstated alongside new characters Simon Fitzgerald and Finlay Roberts respectively.
12 weeks after returning permanently to the bay to live with Bobby Simpson, Sam Nicholls was also added for the first time, alongside his father Greg Marshall who had arrived 11 episodes earlier. Also making their opening titles debut, 17 weeks after arriving in Summer Bay, was Lucinda Croft who now shared a shot with Nick Parrish.
