The 1993 season heralded a new era for the show's opening titles. Gone was the black with brush stroke cutouts used since the show's inception, and in it's place were brightly coloured titlecards. Helicopter shots of Palm Beach were also utilised for the first time, with the 'Home and Away' title appearing as an overlay at the end (as opposed to the previous style of it being a cutout)
This particular set of opening titles also contained many spoilers. Removed from the titles were the characters of Sophie and Blake, foreshadowing their departures 2 and 6 weeks into the season respectively. The new character of Sarah Thompson was added, over 2 weeks before she was ever seen on screen, in a couply shot with Tug who had appeared sporadically as a guest over the latter half of 1992. Also making a surprise appearance was the new character of Luke Cunningham, who didn't arrive until the 2nd episode of the season. Roxy Miller, who arrived in the bay in October 1992, was also added for the first time in a shot with Luke - which again gave away a future pairing.
