As the network geared towards removing opening title sequences, following the removal of the opening sequence from its other network dramas – All Saints in 2005 and Blue Heelers in 2006 – the series began to air an opening title card, which was a truncated version of the final shot of the opening sequence. This had become common practice from 2006, seemingly a test of the waters for fans.

At the time, the network noted that this move was made in favour of adding an addition 30 seconds of drama to the episode. When looking at episodes that still retained an opening sequence, it seemed to possibly be due to the episodes falling short during the edit. From Episode 4686, this sequence was used for every episode.

Despite the removal of the opening sequence, the recap at the beginning of the episode aired in a similar vein of the footage being shown in photo frames, with black bars at the top and bottom of the sequences. This remained the case for when the title card was shown itself.

From the Olympic return onwards in Episode 4701, the series did away with the photo frames altogether for the recap, opting to air the scenes in their full 16:9 ratio, without the black bars. The title card maintained the black bars.
