Extended Summary

Pippa is fitting Sally for a new skirt while Tom looks through the paper and complains about the lack of jobs available.In the kitchen, Bobby is serving up a chicken dish that Lynn has made with the large amount of chicken Pippa bought and telling Steven and Lynn about the trick she played on Barbara and how she owned up and got a detention.Everyone is sitting down to eat when Carly comes in.She tells Tom that it was her that took the $50 and hands the money back to him.Tom thanks her for owning up and invites her to sit down to eat but she reminds him she’s on a diet and heads upstairs.Tom talks to Bobby about not visiting Frank lately and tells her he’s asked to see her.Steven suggests he and Lynn go as well and Bobby is keen on the idea but Tom says Frank wants to talk to her alone.

Carly goes up to her room.Samantha climbs up a ladder to the window.Just as she has climbed into the room, she knocks the ladder over.Downstairs, Sally hears the noise outside but no-one else does and she becomes upset that they don’t believe her.Tom says he will check it out after dinner and Sally brightens when Lynn offers her some dessert.Upstairs, Carly points out to Samantha that she won’t be able to get back down and that she shares a room.Samantha tells her that the pressure of modelling is getting too much and when she told their father she wanted to quit he hit her.

Ailsa is doing a stock take at the store when Bobby turns up and asks her to come and see Frank with her. She thinks Frank is going to tell her off for being hard on Roo.She also admits she told Frank she loved him when he was under anaesthetic but he thought it was a dream and laughed about it.Ailsa agrees.

Carly isn’t keen on helping Samantha, reminding her that she covered up the fact that she was being beaten. Lynn comes up and finds the door locked and, over Samantha’s protests, Carly lets her in.Carly says Samantha can stay if Lynn agrees to it.Lynn takes Carly aside and says she thought she hated Samantha. Carly says she does but she still doesn’t deserve to be beaten by their father.Lynn agrees to let her stay. Samantha isn’t entirely grateful and also says she intends to go back to their father once she’s given him a big enough shock.

Sally comes upstairs and hears the voices coming from the girls’ bedroom.She tries to go in but Carly and Lynn shut the door on her and lock it.Downstairs, Tom and Pippa are getting ready to watch a movie.Sally comes down and says Carly and Lynn have a boy in their room.She reminds Tom he was going to check outside.Tom does so and nearly trips over the ladder.Carly and Lynn are trying to find Samantha some clothes when Tom knocks on the door.Lynn pushes Samantha under the bed and they let him in.He tells them what Sally said and about the ladder.Lynn suggests Lance used it and left it there.They tell Tom he can search the room, obviously hoping he doesn’t.He says he’ll let it drop if they look him in the eye and say there’s no boy in the room.They do and he leaves.

At the hospital, Ailsa is wittering on to Frank about Alf’s golfing while Bobby stands silently.Frank asks Ailsa to let them talk alone and Ailsa leaves.As Bobby feared, Frank tells her to go easy on Roo, even though he acknowledges she was right about her.Bobby reluctantly agrees.

Tom and Pippa are watching the movie and Pippa is crying at it.Steven catches Carly going to the fridge and she tells him she’ll start the diet tomorrow.Once she’s got back upstairs with the food, Samantha quickly wolfs it down.Carly tells her she isn’t happy about lying to Tom and Pippa and she can only stay two days. Samantha thinks that isn’t long enough and threatens to tell Tom and Pippa but Lynn points out if she does that she’ll be sent home anyway.

Bobby arrives home to find Pippa is asleep and Tom is crying at the movie.Tom claims he’d turn it off if Pippa wasn’t lying on top of him.Pippa wakes up and is disappointed to have missed half the movie, despite seeing it countless times.Bobby tells Tom that there’s a janitor’s job going at the school.Tom can think of several reasons not to apply, including not wanting to work with Donald, but Pippa can think of even more reasons to go for it.Upstairs, Samantha wants the toilet.She puts Carly’s dressing gown on over her clothes and Lynn tries to sneak her across the landing, telling her not to talk to anyone.They bump into Bobby, who thinks Samantha is Carly and wants to talk to them about what happened at the hospital.Lynn tries to put her off while Samantha remains silent, Bobby tells Samantha to hurry up and asks if she’s forgotten where the bathroom is.

Narelle is visiting Frank and they note she has to go back home soon.Frank says she should pop in and see him again but Narelle says she couldn’t stand the competition from Bobby.Frank is confused and Narelle says that she clearly likes him and, with Roo out of the picture, she’s next in line.She realises Frank didn’t have a clue.

Samantha is still in the bathroom and Lynn tries to persuade Bobby to wait until morning.Bobby refuses and wants to wait for her in the girls’ bedroom(where Carly is listening at the door).Lynn tries to stop her but Bobby pushes past her.Lynn hides her face in her hands, thinking they’re about to be found out, but Carly has hidden under one of the beds.Lynn sees her and gives a relieved smile.Carly looks anxious and uncomfortable.
