Extended Summary

When Don catches up with Martin and Lance they tell him why they played the trick – Donald is horrified. Colleen fancies him?! So thats why Neville invited him to dinner, trying to set them up! He assures the boys it’s not going to happen then visits Floss and Neville and tells them off for their attempts at match-making. He wont come to dinner now. He goes back to tend to Celia.

Philip comes back to town, having been discharged from hospital. His hand is still bandaged up but he assures Steven it’s just a precaution. They head to the store, where Narelle is holding the fort. Philip wants to arrange a camping trip and invites Narelle along. When they head back to the house to make plans, Carly invites herself along too.

With a drunken Celia sleeping it off in the bedroom, Don gets a visit from Floss. Floss gets angry and tells him off, saying Colleen just wants to be his friend. She’s a lonely woman who’s been abandoned by her family and he should do the decent thing and let her have a good night out. Don feels ashamed by this and a little humbled. He sighs and agrees to attend the dinner.

Alison has started work at the Macklin office – Stacey gave her the job because her family own some of the land needed for the development. With Stacey away, Frank is in charge but Alison is refusing to do any work and spending all her time gossiping on the phone. Eventually Bobby gets fed up and tells Alison if she doesn’t pull her weight, she’ll pull her nails out. Alison starts typing.

Lance is telling Sally about how he and Martin put Flathead straight and told him to keep away from Colleen but Sally tells him she saw Donald go to Floss’ caravan. At Floss and Nevilles Don is stand-offish and aloof and seems to be dreading the evening ahead. His fears seem to be confirmed when Colleen arrives all dolled up for dinner.

Narelle, Philip, Steven and Carly are trekking in the bush. They set up camp beside an old house, unaware that somebody in the attic of the old house is watching them through the dirty window. Narelle is scared of the place, rumour says it is haunted and an old man was murdered there. She becomes convinced she saw someone at one of the windows. The others tease her over it as it gets dark and they sit around telling jokes and laughing. Inside the house, a figure sits huddled up under a sheet, moaning to itself…
