Extended Summary

At the caravan park house, Don talks with Pippa about the fact that Pippa and Christopher are going to the city for a bit to see Tom; the kids are staying behind since they can’t leave work and school. Don agrees to keep an eye on them. Viv arrives, having seen Don’s car outside, and asks for a lift to school. Sally notices she’s wearing make-up like Emma. Steven says he likes it but none of the others are particularly keen so Viv decides she’ll wait in the car and says she wants to meet Emma at the Diner. Pippa asks Don about Viv and Emma being banned from seeing each other and he explains Bobby persuaded him to lift the ban so they might get tired of each other. He notes he’d rather Viv was hanging around with someone like Steven.

Morag and Danny are having dinner together. Danny is annoyed since he was supposed to be going on a date with Bobby but Morag made dinner for him anyway; she claims she forgot. She says she’s meeting Judge Warwick, who might be able to help Danny finish his law degree, and also brings up the fact Warwick has a daughter, saying she’s good marriage material. Danny says that when he gets married he’ll choose his own wife and confirms it might be Bobby. At the Diner, Bobby is unimpressed with Viv’s new look, saying copying Emma isn’t being individual, and reminds her it’s past the time Don wants her to be home. Danny turns up and apologises for being there late, although since Carly hasn’t turned up Bobby is having to work anyway. Danny is fed up with Morag controlling his life.

Next morning, Steven brings Pippa’s cases downstairs; he and Sally are saying goodbye to her but Carly’s still in bed. Sally gives Pippa a present she made for Tom in Art: it’s a box for him to keep his pills in. Steven takes the bags out to the car while Pippa tells Sally that if any strangers call she’s to say that Pippa’s in the shower. Pippa is halfway to the car when she realises she’s forgotten Christopher. Steven goes to get him. At Morag’s mansion, Danny comes downstairs and Morag has a go at him for coming home late, saying she can’t sleep when he’s not there because she’s worried something might happen. Danny says she’ll have to manage soon because he’s moving out. Morag begs him to reconsider, saying there’s a lunatic out there and he has to protect her. Danny says he’s been quiet for a while and he doesn’t think Morag will have a problem.

Martin is ordering a large breakfast at the Diner but when he asks for it on tab Bobby tears his order up, saying they’re not giving him credit anymore. Lance arrives and Martin suggests Bobby give him credit, since he’s got a job, but Lance says they’ve found someone else and he only has three dollars. Bobby suggests Martin gets a job but Martin complains there aren’t any jobs for young executives. Later, Lance and Martin are sharing some fish and chips at home. Martin looks at the wrapping and notes that the horse that won last week is running and they should put some money on it but Lance points out he’s looking at last week’s paper. Then Martin spots something else: Captain Henry Whiting is selling his hot dog stand by the beach. He tells Lance it’s perfect for them, lots of beach babes dying for hot dogs. Lance points out they won’t be there in winter but Martin’s enthusiasm is unaffected.

Bobby and Danny buy some hot dogs from Henry’s stand before he closes for lunch; Bobby explains Henry is a vegetarian. Danny tells her he’s moving out of Morag’s and she’s given him the afternoon off to sort it. Lance and Martin arrive looking for Henry and follow him to the surf club. Henry tells them he wants $2,000.Martin tries to beat him down to $1,000 but Henry says he could make that in a week. Martin uses Lance’s argument about winter trade. Henry says he’s moving to a commune in India and won’t need money once he’s there so if they can get him the $1133.84 he needs for his air fare in cash within 24 hours the stand is theirs.

Sally is looking at some shells she’s collected when Don knocks on the door. Even though she knows who it is, she says she can’t let him in because Pippa’s in the shower and Steven’s in the bath. Steven, realising she’s messing about, opens the door. Don tells them he won’t be spying on them but they can call him if they need anything. Sally doesn’t seem happy about the thought of him hanging around. Don asks if they’re all right for money and Sally says they’re fine since Lance gave Pippa his winnings. At the mobile home, Martin is trying to work out how to raise $1200 while Lance is more concerned about scraping together enough money for food. A comment from him gives Martin an idea: They sell shares in the stand to local business people like Alf and Ailsa. Lance suggests Celia but Martin points out they pulled out of the last deal they made with her. Lance suggests Don.

Danny comes home and Morag asks him where he’s been, showing that someone has painted DEATH JUDGE on the windows. Danny is shocked, saying he’s been asleep on the beach all afternoon. Morag starts to clean it off and Danny wants to get on with his packing but Morag begs him to stay again, saying she doesn’t want to be left on her own. Danny rushes out and, once he’s gone, Morag’s mood changes: She smiles triumphantly, saying Danny will come round. Danny wanders along the beach, hearing voices again. He accuses his father of doing the painting and says he remembers his promise but it’s different now he’s met Bobby, shouting for his father to leave him alone.

At the Diner, Martin is making his pitch to Don and Bobby, neither of whom are interested. Steven and Sally arrive and Steven says Carly is going to be late for work because she’s gone to Yabbie Creek; Sally lets slip she’s having her legs waxed. Martin admits his proposal is a hot dog stand, which Don says is hardly a money spinner, but Martin insists they just need six people to put up $200 and Lance is asking Betty Falwell. Sally suggests Lance asks Pippa for his money back. Steven tries to drag her away but Martin quizzes her and she says Lance said Pippa needed it more than him and maybe he made a mistake. Martin agrees he did.

Soon after, Sally is collecting shells on the beach when she stumbles across Danny crouched behind a rock, saying that he can’t remember doing it and Morag will get suspicious. Sally asks him who he’s talking to and Danny is shocked that she’s heard. Steven comes over and ignores Sally’s claims Danny was talking to himself about Morag, taking her to play nearby. Danny watches them and says he knows he has to do something about Sally but he doesn’t know what. He seems horrified by the response he hears, saying that she’s just a kid and he can’t let his father hurt her…
