Emma’s plans to seduce Steven backfire and Morag receives an unwelcome visitor.
Extended Summary
Steven comes home and asks Rory how his training is going. Rory thinks Matt is just putting up with him, as people have been doing all his life. Steven admits he was hard on Rory at first and they agree to start again. Steven invites him to come to the beach with him and Emma to work on a school project tomorrow. Rory thinks three will be a crowd but Steven says he knows just the girl for him. They go to Donald’s to ask Viv to come. She is dead against it until she learns that Steven is taking Emma.
Emma is trying to decide what food to take tomorrow and Ailsa is amused at how smitten she is. She learns that Emma asked Steven out and warns her it could backfire if she’s trying to manipulate him into a situation he’s not sure about.
Morag comes into the store and Celia lectures her for dredging up Danny’s past and humiliating him. She thinks Morag was just trying to destroy his relationship with Bobby. Alf appears and refuses to serve Morag. He throws her out, saying he doesn’t know how she sprang from Stewart stock, unless some bloke jumped over the back fence while Dad wasn’t looking!
At the Diner, Emma is telling Bobby that she and Steven were made for each other but Bobby is down about Danny. Viv arrives and takes delight in telling Emma that she and Rory will be joining them tomorrow.
Celia arrives at Morag’s with the groceries Alf wouldn’t let her buy but Morag doesn’t want Celia’s charity and smashes the eggs on the floor. Celia apologises on Alf’s behalf for the comment about someone jumping the fence but Morag has been wondering how she came from the same union as the two of them! She throws Celia out and Celia tells her it won’t be long before she doesn’t have a friend in the world.
Sally comes to the mobile home the following morning and Martin tells her to keep her voice down because he doesn’t want Lance waking up. Sally wants him to sponsor her for a readathon and convinces him by threatening to wake up Lance. Martin shows up early for work at the hot dog stand, saying Lance would prefer to snore the day away… but Lance appears. He has been selling hot dogs since sunrise. Martin is angry and says Lance is obviously willing to walk all over their friendship to keep the one job Celia is offering.
Ailsa opens the door to Morag who wants to talk. She reminds Ailsa they were friends once but Ailsa says her friends don’t ruin other people’s lives. Morag says nobody else wants to know her; Ailsa is her last hope.
Steven and Rory discuss Viv and Emma at the Diner. Rory says it’s hard to pick between the two of them but Steven tells him Emma has been raving about him. Rory says Emma is Steven’s date but Steven is happy for them to switch. He tells Rory not to come on too strong because girls don’t like being rushed.
Morag tells Ailsa she could have had Danny charged and sent to prison but she didn’t. She had to do something when he started getting closer to Bobby. Ailsa still thinks it was a convenient excuse for her to get at Bobby and defends Danny because of what he has been through. She tells Morag she has lost her as a friend and suggests she leave Summer Bay. Morag tells Ailsa she is as blind as the rest of the locals.
Rory, Emma, Steven and Viv are walking along the beach and Emma is complaining that she doesn’t even know why Viv is there. Steven suggests they split into pairs and he and Viv go off together. Rory thinks it is to give him and Emma some privacy but Emma tells him they’ve been conned; Steven just wanted them out of the way.
Morag sits on the beach looking angry before showing up at the Diner to announce she is leaving town. She tells Bobby she’s given her a taste of what she did to her: she encouraged Roo to leave with Frank and she put an end to her relationship with Danny. She isn’t leaving because she’s lost but because she’s won, and that makes her a very, very happy woman. Morag leaves and Bobby tells Ailsa that Morag was right; she has won.
Rory and Steven are walking near the hot dog stand and Rory tells Steven he wouldn’t have stood in his way with Viv. Steven says Emma was the one doing the manipulating. Rory tells Steven if he’s not careful he’s going to lose two decent friends. Martin and Lance argue over selling Steven a hot dog so he orders two and asks if they’re in competition. Martin says he is going to be the winner.
Morag drives back to her house and tells Banjo that in half an hour they’ll be gone from this God-forsaken place. They enter the house and find it has been trashed. On the walls is spray-painted, “I’m not finished with you yet. You’ll get yours Morag.” The phone rings and Morag warily answers it. She tells the caller to leave her alone and hugs up but it rings again immediately so she takes it off the hook. Morag is reduced to tears.
