Extended Summary

Sally and Carly are trying to stretch Tom’s shrunken cardigan. Carly laughs when Sally falls over but Sally reminds her she’s the one who’s going to get killed.

At the Diner, Emma thinks Adam should spend his shark money on a holiday but Adam wants to invest it and make more money. In the kitchen, Bobby tells Ailsa the takings haven’t added up for the second day; she thinks Simpson is telling Sophie to knock the money off. Sophie is a nice kid but if it’s true then they can’t afford to keep her.

Fisher has the cash laid out on the coffee table and looks over the newspaper article about the shooting again. He picks up the phone to make a call but changes his mind.

Celia brings a meal round for Tom and the family in Pippa’s absence. Tom tells her that Coral is on the mend but now Bert has pneumonia. Carly appears and Tom asks if she’s seen his cardigan. Carly denies all knowledge. Tom leaves to play golf and Carly tells Sally they’re going to have to buy Tom a new cardigan… but they don’t have any money.

Emma and Adam are playing pool at the surf club when Matt comes in complaining about the national ironman competition being on the same day as the surf club carnival. They will have to reschedule. Instead, Adam suggests holding their own competition, charging an entrance fee and having a $500 prize for the winner.

At the Diner, Bobby refuses to lend Carly and Sally money. Ailsa lends them some money out of the cash drawer but tells them not to tell Bobby. Bobby gets a phone call from Fisher. He wants to explain everything but she doesn’t understand why he’s asked her to bring Matt.

Adam and Emma arrive at the store and Adam runs the competition idea past Alf. Alf thinks Adam is just out to make some money.

Matt is on patrol on the beach and lectures Sophie about swimming in between the flags. Sophie flirts with him and asks if she can walk with him.

Back at the surf club, Adam has made some posters for the competition and is confident he will win. Bobby comes in looking for Matt.

Carly and Sally can’t find the exact cardigan at the shops and argue about what happened. They have to get back to put the dinner on so decide to go back and buy one that was an almost match.

Sophie and Matt are walking along the beach. Sophie wishes she could stay in Summer Bay and tells Matt how Al came and got her a year ago after he got out of prison and they keep moving around like gypsies. She wishes Bobby were her sister. Bobby appears and tells Matt that Fisher wants to see them both. Sophie offers to go to the Diner but Bobby tells her they can’t balance the books and can’t afford to subsidise her any more, although she does feel for her.

Al is drunk when Sophie returns to the caravan and tells him Bobby knows she’s been taking the money. Al tells her not to worry; she did good and he’s proud of her but now it’s his turn. He asks how Bobby found out but Sophie doesn’t know. She tells him Bobby came to get Matt from the beach because Fisher wants to talk to him. Al suddenly sobers up… has Fisher done the dirty on him?

Fisher confesses to Bobby and Matt that he’s responsible shooting Matt’s brother Shane. He tries to explain that it was an accident and he kept quiet because he had two small children to consider. Simpson turned up and blackmailed him to buy his silence. Matt tells Fisher he’s going to pay for this and leaves to call the police.

Sally and Carly are dirtying the new cardigan to make it look old when Tom arrives home. He finds the cardigan and says he’s promised it to a greenkeeper at the golf club because it makes him look like an old man! Carly tells Sally they’ve just spent $100 on a total stranger.

Al is going mad about Fisher and tells Sophie she has to tell the police she saw Fisher threaten to kill him. Sophie is scared and Al sends her out for more beer.

The police arrive and handcuff Fisher. He has kept the gun all these years in hope of being able to prove his innocence. Bobby asks if she can call Ailsa, and tells Fisher that everything will be OK.

Ailsa takes a phone call at the Diner while Emma and Adam come in and put up an ironman poster. The man takes a look and is interested but Adam tells him it’s for locals only. However, he says he’s thinking of sticking around. Looking at Emma, he says he likes what he’s seen so far. Alf welcomes him to the Bay and shakes his hand. He introduces himself as Grant Mitchell. He heads to the surf club to fill out an entry form. Alf thinks Adam may have just met his match.

Ailsa arrives at Fisher’s as Fisher is being taken away in a police car. Bobby yells after them that Simpson is the one they want.
