Alf and Emma resolve their differences. Meanwhile, Bobby is forced to represent the youth of Summer Bay in the forthcoming council elections.
Extended Summary
Bobby has a go at Viv at home in the evening for thinking about mending her clothes at a time like this! Where is the touch footie team going to practise if the sports ground gets built on? Donald is surprised she’s so passionate about it. He says the sports ground is a prime piece of real estate and Bobby thinks Rex Wilson has got a finger in the pie.
Carly arrives home from selling her jewellery; she only sold one pair of earrings but is confident she will get better. She is tired but wants to wait up for Ben. She sits down in front of the TV but can’t keep her eyes open.
The next morning Matt, Bobby and Steven arrive at the surf club for the meeting and Bobby wonders if Rex will have the guts to show up.
Alf and Ailsa are enjoying a peaceful Sunday morning as Duncan is still asleep. Emma is working at the store so Alf hasn’t had a chance to apologise for having a go at her for running over his golf putter.
Carly comes into the store looking for Celia but she’s not there. Carly shows Emma her jewellery samples but Emma isn’t impressed. She wouldn’t be seen dead in it and thinks Carly has been ripped off!
Rex Wilson is at the surf club meeting defending the council’s decision. He refuses to divulge the name of the company that has bought the sports ground and takes offence to Bobby suggesting he’s getting something out of it. He promises a new sports ground will be built. Bobby tells him he’s not going to get away with this.
Emma, Viv and Steven are at the Diner trying to think of a way for Emma to get some money to pay for Alf’s putter. She doesn’t want to sell her leather jacket. At the counter, Grant reminds Bobby there’s an election coming up. Bobby says if they can put off the decision until after the election and get somebody to stand against Rex they can stop the development. Grant asks Bobby who she’s going to get to stand and Bobby confidently announces she will find someone.
Carly is at the Stewart house trying to sell jewellery to Ailsa when Emma pops home to pick something up. Alf asks her to try and get home for tea as he wants to talk to her. Back at the Diner, Emma sells her leather jacket to someone called Margot for a disappointing $100. Bobby is on the phone trying to persuade Tom to stand for council but he’s not interested.
At the surf club, Matt’s Uncle Rex asks him to try and make his friends see sense, reminding him who got him his job, but Matt refuses to do his dirty work. Emma comes in and informs Rex that he won’t be on the council for much longer. Rex leaves and Emma asks Grant to come to the golf club with her to help her buy a new putter.
At the Diner, Bobby doesn’t have any luck convincing Alf either. Ailsa says he hates anything to do with politicians. Ailsa also refuses; the last time she got involved in local politics her marriage almost ended in divorce! Rex comes in and stirs Bobby.
Tom sees off Ross the plumber as Carly returns to the caravan park, feeling like a failure. Tom suggests she call Jeff Cusack and ask for her money back.
Bobby, Viv and Donald are home for lunch and Donald doesn’t want to stand for election either. He suggests Bobby do it since she’s the one with a bee in her bonnet! Grant and Emma are showing off the new putter to Matt at the surf club when Viv and Steven arrive to ask for their help convincing Bobby to stand for election.
Emma arrives home and gives Alf the new putter. Alf tells her she didn’t need to do that. He hands her a cheque for $100 that he wants her to have towards the boots that will go with her jacket! Emma tells him she sold her leather jacket to pay for the putter and Alf feels bad.
Bobby is back at work and Ailsa is trying to convince her to stand for council; she thinks there’s a lot she can do if she sets her mind to it. Carly tries to call Jeff at the house but gets some bad news. Matt, Steven, Viv, Grant and some random extras come into the Diner with posters and chanting, “We want Bobby!” Bobby tells them they’re too young to vote anyway but Steven says she will be representing them. Ailsa joins in the chant and Bobby agrees to do it.
