Ailsa takes sides in the election campaign. Adam is bowled over by the flatmate of his dreams.
Extended Summary
Bobby and Grant are amused by Matt and Adam’s poster at the Diner, advertising a room at the beach house, sharing with “two great guys”. Matt tells Bobby that his Uncle Rex has resigned due to his health. Bobby is delighted that she’ll get onto the council unopposed… until Alf arrives to break the news that he’s running for council as well. Bobby asks who needs enemies with friends like him.
At Summer Bay House, Ben and Carly tell Tom and Pippa they’re giving up on the second jobs and will have more time together, even if it does take them longer to save for a house. Sophie and sally come downstairs; they’ve worked out all the arrangements for Ben and Carly’s wedding! There’s nothing for Bobby to do, but Carly says she wants her to be her matron of honour.
At the Diner, Bobby and Alf are debating Alf’s running for council. Bobby thinks he will just be Rex’s mouthpiece. He apologises for knocking Bobby out of the running but Bobby isn’t so sure and tells Alf to watch out because she’s going to be breathing down his neck!
Marilyn is at the store and gets upset about Lance leaving. Celia tells her that new doors will open, like her going to Africa. Marilyn needs a job so that she can stay here. Celia says Alf has promised Carly first option on replacing her at the store. Matt and Adam arrive to put up a poster about the room. Adam asks Marilyn if she’s interested but Marilyn doesn’t have any way to pay the rent.
Bobby is still moaning about Alf when Celia arrives at the Diner to ask Carly if she still wants the job at the store. Carly says she and Ben have decided to hold off on the house. After Celia leaves, Carly asks Bobby to be her matron of honour. Bobby says she’s been waiting for her to ask! She says of course she will and they hug.
Bobby is at Summer Bay House in the evening and isn’t impressed with the bold pink and green colours Carly wants for her bridesmaid dresses; they’ll look like they belong in a circus! Carly says it’s her wedding and she gets the final say. Bobby storms out as Celia arrives (for no apparent reason).
Celia is suddenly back at the Diner where Marilyn has missed out on some hours because Bobby came back sooner than planned. Celia cheers her up by offering her the job at the store. At the Stewart House, Alf tells the omnipresent Celia that Marilyn is a walking disaster! Celia tries to talk him into it.
Carly complains about Bobby at Ben’s caravan; she didn’t try and tell Bobby what her bridesmaids should wear when she got married. Ben is surprised to learn Bobby is married and Carly fills him in about Frank running off with Roo. Ben wonders if the memories are making this hard for Bobby. Carly says she hadn’t thought about that. She goes to the Diner where Bobby is cleaning up and apologises. She admits Bobby was right about the colours and asks her to come back.
The next morning, Matt and Adam unload their furniture at the beach house. Ailsa arrives at the Diner and Bobby tells her she can handle the campaign without her but Ailsa has a whole campaign worked out! Bobby is surprised she isn’t jumping ship but Alf comes in with some supplies and says he couldn’t persuade her. He wants to keep things friendly and he and Bobby shake hands. Carly arrives and asks Alf to be master of ceremonies at the wedding.
Celia is training Marilyn when Alf arrives at the store. Celia asks Alf to stop glaring and make Marilyn feel welcome. Marilyn knocks over a display and Alf says he wasn’t even looking at her!
We see the inside of the beach house for the very first time as a guy called Glenn comes to look at the room. He’s on the dole and had to sell his surf board! Matt and Adam are not impressed.
Back at the store, a customer can’t find the brand of cornflour she wants so Marilyn suggests the Yabbie Creek supermarket. The woman compliments Alf on his friendly staff. Alf has a go at Marilyn for sending her to the opposition and calls her a dimwit! Marilyn gets upset and runs off. Alf tells Celia that Marilyn has got to go.
Adam and Matt think they’d be better off living with a girl but Adam says she can’t be too irresistible because they only want someone to pay the rent, not complicate things. Right on a cue, a girl in a crop top with long blonde hair appears at the door! Matt and Adam look suitably impressed.
