Episode 522

Extended Summary

Ben returns to Summer Bay House and Sally is disappointed he hasn’t succeeding in convincing Mullet to come to the wedding. Ben says they need to find a way of getting him some new clothes without hurting his pride.

Emma walks along the beach with her mother who assures her Barry has gone for good. She shows Emma a photo of her brothers Troy and Justin and tells her how much they miss her. Emma accuses her of emotional blackmail and storms off.

At the Diner, Viv and Steven get Adam to sign up for giving blood tomorrow because the longer the queue the more they miss of school! Adam asks Donald if he will be giving blood but Donald is evasive and Adam asks if he’s scared of needles. Grant thinks Donald should set an example.

Bridget catches up with Emma and apologises for not believing her over what happened with Barry. Emma doesn’t know how she could have believed him over her; all she was interested in was hanging onto her man. Bridget says he came home really drunk and blurted it all out.

Ben and Sally plant a shirt with some money in the pocket where they hope Mullet will find it.

Adam rubs in the size the needle to Donald before leaving the Diner. Donald is annoyed with Grant for putting him on the spot. The only time he’s ever given blood he fainted. Ailsa and Bobby are amused. Donald tells Grant that if a word of this gets out he’ll have him transferred to Bullamakanka!

Emma returns to Bridget’s caravan with her. Bridget asks Emma for a fresh start but Emma doesn’t know if she could live with her again.

Grant, Adam, Steven and Viv are set up for the blood drive at the surf club in the evening. Steven plans to bring a camera in case Donald passes. Grant tries to dissuade him but is unsuccessful.

Emma is late home and Ailsa gets her dinner out of the oven. They discuss Bridget. Emma claims she hasn’t spoken to her and Ailsa says that’s good; she doesn’t see how Bridget can expect her to forgive her. Emma doesn’t want to talk about it.

Adam invites Grant back for some leftovers and so Steven and Viv are left alone at the surf club. They kiss and Steven puts his hand on Viv’s leg but she gets up and says she doesn’t want to. Grant and Adam finish eating as Emma arrives at the beach house. She tells Adam her mother has changed and wants her to move back in with her. Adam tells Emma she has to do what’s right for her; his motto is to look out for number one. Emma is not impressed.

Back at the surf club, Steven and Viv argue over Steven not wanting to wait like they agreed. Viv says there are plenty of girls willing to sleep around and suggests Steven try one of them. She storms out and goes to talk to Bobby about it at the Diner. Bobby tells her she shouldn’t give in just because Steven wants her to. Steven arrives home and complains about Viv to Tom. Tom tells him he needs to settle down and let Viv go at her own pace.

Mullet is fishing the next morning. Sally pretends to discover the shirt and $50. Mullet says it wouldn’t be right to keep it. They return to the Fletchers’ and Mullet asks Tom to give the money to the police. Ben asks Mullet if he could stand in as page boy because his cousin has come down with mumps. He will rent a suit for him because he would have been renting one for his cousin. Mullet agrees.

Viv is helping Bobby open up the Diner and worries Steven is going to break up with her. Bridget comes in and talks to Ailsa about Emma. She’s glad they had a good chat. Ailsa is obviously surprised but tries not to let on. Bridget wants to concentrate on getting Emma to come home. Ailsa is taken aback.

Steven and Viv are sitting under some trees and have made up. Steven tells Viv he used to like her a lot but now he thinks he loves her. He promises to never expect her to do anything again… so long as she does his history assignment for him!

Ailsa comes home and asks Emma why she lied to her about talking to her mother. Emma says she knew she’d be angry but Ailsa says she doesn’t want her to get hurt. Emma says her mother has changed but Ailsa says that’s rubbish; she’s manipulating her. Emma accuses Ailsa of trying to make her hate Bridget just because she does. She’s not going to listen to it any more. She tells Ailsa to keep her opinions to herself and storms out.
