Mullet makes a bold fashion statement. Fisher chastises Alf for condoning the fight between Paul and Adam.
Extended Summary
At the Diner, Murray, Sally and Steven discuss the amateur night. Murray is keen to perform again like his dad. Adam comes in looking for Paul. Steven can’t believe Adam is going ahead with the fight when Paul is half his size and calls him an idiot. Steven goes to the store and tells Alf his cooling-off idea has backfired as Adam still wants to fight. Paul comes in and Alf and Steven fail to talk him out of the fight so Steven agrees to train him.
Back at the house, Sally and Murray talk to Pippa and Carly. Murray wants them to sing at a friend’s birthday party but Carly tells them they will need a new song. Murray says they’ll need someone to teach them and Carly reminds them that Marilyn was in a band. They want to go and talk to her but Pippa insists they go and do their homework. Pippa and Carly discuss Sophie. Pippa hopes she’s doing the right thing not talking to her about it and hopes she doesn’t run away.
Gus returns to his shack and tells Sophie he’s handed in the watch to the police. Sophie insists on seeing the receipt as it’s half hers but Gus says he’s changed his mind about that. Sophie yells at him for lying to her; she hates him.
Steven, Pippa, Sophie and Sally discuss the amateur night as they clean up after dinner and Steven teases Sally that her teacher and all the other kids were just being nice about her act. All the time Sophie is doing the washing up but clearly listening as ominous music plays and the camera zooms in on her.
Steven is getting Paul to do push-ups, sit-ups and skipping at the surf club the next morning but Paul wants to put the boxing gloves on. Alf arrives and agrees with Steven’s methods. They take him outside for a run (with Alf following in his car!). Paul collapses and complains about a cramp. Alf rolls his eyes.
Sally and Murray are at the beach house and Marilyn knows just the song to teach them (Me and My Shadow). She shows them how to work on their presentation.
Sophie arrives back from a walk and Pippa asks if she wants to come shopping in Yabbie Creek with her and Carly but Sophie says she has homework to do.
Paul tries on the boxing gloves at the surf club and Alf gets him to throw some punches but he’s not very good. Steven hopes Adam doesn’t hit back!
Donald comes to the house looking for Pippa and inquires if Sophie is better as he hasn’t seen her at school. Sophie claims she’s had the flu but is better now. Donald says he’ll see her on Monday and Sophie looks worried.
Marilyn thinks Sally and Murray can learn the song in time for the party next week. Murray wants to know how pop stars get charisma. Marilyn tells him to work on his image so Murray thinks if he looks like a pop star he’ll have charisma.
Sophie packs some clothes into a bag but Sally arrives home as she’s about to leave the house. Sally asks Sophie to do her hair for the birthday party but Sophie doesn’t think she’ll have time and suggests a hairdresser. Sally doesn’t think Pippa has enough money for that; she can tell as Pippa never buys new clothes for herself. Sophie asks why she takes on so many foster kids; maybe she’d be glad if Sophie left? Sally tells Sophie she’s part of the family and is like a big sister. They hug.
After Pippa gets home, Sophie confesses that she’s been wagging school and thought about running away. Pippa is glad she didn’t, but is disappointed Sophie didn’t feel she could come to her. She tells Sophie she’s part of the family and they help each other through things. She’s going to have to go back to school but Pippa has a feeling it won’t be as bad as Sophie thinks.
Sophie goes to see Gus again and tells him she’s staying so he’d better do the right thing over the watch! Gus hands her the police receipt. Sophie sees it has her name on it and asks Gus how he was so sure she’d hang around. Gus says she’s too smart to walk away.
Sally is talking to Carly and Marilyn as she waits for Murray at the Diner; he’s got a surprise for her. Donald overhears Marilyn talking about the fight and Marilyn tells him Mr Stewart has organised a fight between Adam and Paul Jensen. Donald says they’ll see about that and storms out. Murray arrives wearing a rock t-shirt, denim jacket and sunglasses! Sally covers her face.
Donald lectures Alf about the fight at the store. Alf says he couldn’t talk them out of it so he organised the boxing match. Donald thinks he’s condoning violence but Alf says boxing is a sport. Donald says there won’t be a fight if he has a say in it.
