Fisher realises he would like to spend more time with Pippa. Emma and her gang put a stop to the boxing match.
Extended Summary
Don helps Pippa bring her groceries home and asks her if she really wants to go to the reunion. Pippa says she doesn’t really care either way. Don says she shouldn’t be pressured but he’s happy to go with her if she wants to. Pippa says she does want to go so Don halts her doubts and they arrange for him to pick her up in an hour. Meanwhile, at the Diner, Marilyn and Matt are looking through the paper for properties. Marilyn sees one that looks promising but Matt realises it’s their house. Marilyn wants to talk to Ernie but Matt doesn’t think it’ll do any good. At the counter, Bobby, Carly, Emma and Sophie talk about the fight. Marilyn comes over and think it’s romantic, two men fighting over Emma, but no-one else seems to agree.
At the surf club, Alf calls Adam and Paul into the centre of the makeshift fight area and explains the rules. He offers them one last chance to call it off but they both refuse so he sends them back to their corners to get ready. Ben helps Adam with his mouth guard while Steven gives Paul some last minute advice. At the Diner, Sophie protests that girls don’t go around punching each other but Carly disagrees and Marilyn says she saw two girls having a fight once. Bobby doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with boxing as a sport but the others think it’ll just be a brawl. Emma says that it’s pointless anyway because she won’t go out with Adam if he wins. Bobby accuses the others of just whining about it instead of doing something which gets them thinking.
Paul is swinging punches at Adam who seems content just to block them but one gets through his guard and hits him on the jaw. Alf ends the round and sends them back to their corners. Adam tells Ben the next round will be for real while Steven advises Paul to stay in control. Outside, Carly, Marilyn and Sophie sneak around with a collection of buckets of water and fire extinguishers, saying Emma’s already inside. Adam and Paul are trading blows and when they get too close quarters Alf steps in to separate them. At that moment, the four girls run in and spray all three of them with water. They quickly make themselves scarce, leaving the surf club in a mess. Alf declares he’ll go after them and give them a telling off. The others seem dispirited by the girls’ interference and Adam thinks they should do something to get them back. Paul thinks if they do nothing it’ll catch them off guard. The others agree and set about mopping up the water.
At the Diner, the girls celebrate their plan working until Alf arrives, still soaking wet. Marilyn makes herself scarce as Alf scolds Carly, Emma and Sophie for getting in the way, saying the fight was controlled and now Adam and Paul will probably end up fighting in an alleyway. Carly and Emma try to argue that it won’t happen. Outside the surf club, Ben says his goodbyes to the others. Paul offers Adam a rematch but Steven says they should probably leave it. Adam apologises again for insulting Paul’s father. Paul apologises for going after Emma when she was with Adam but Adam says it was Emma’s decision and it was just his hurt pride. The pair walk off together, chatting quite amiably, and Steven looks after them, amused.
At Don’s place, Don emerges from his bedroom wearing a shirt and tie and asks Bobby’s opinion. Bobby thinks he’s a bit overdressed for a barbeque but Don doesn’t want to let Pippa down and snaps briefly when Bobby makes a joke about them going on a date. Don asks whether he should take flowers but Bobby thinks since it’s not a date it might make Pippa uncomfortable. Don leaves and, whilst driving to the caravan park, he stops by a bin and dumps a bunch of flowers into it.
At the Diner, Carly, Sophie and Emma see Steven, Paul and Adam enter but none of them say anything. Steven goes to the counter to order and, when Emma asks him to get Paul to talk to her, he doesn’t answer. He passes on the message to Paul but he doesn’t seem interested in talking to her. Sophie notes it looks like Adam and Paul are friends now and Emma worries she might be left out. Meanwhile, Don arrives at the Fletcher house to find Pippa dressed quite casually and also that she’s taking Christopher with them since she couldn’t get a babysitter. Ben arrives home and seems quite amused by the situation, offering to look after Christopher. Don seems a bit flustered and quickly ushers Pippa and Christopher out of the house.
Adam and Paul chat about Adam getting into a fight with a guy over his yacht. Carly and Sophie encourage Emma to say something. As Paul is leaving, Emma stops him. He is annoyed that he had to clean up the mess she made of the surf club and also that she interfered in the fight, saying it was his decision. Emma protests she was just trying to stop him getting hurt but Paul tells her they’re finished. A short time later, an upset Emma tells Carly about it in the kitchen. Carly points out that Emma’s been going around town telling everyone Paul’s going to get beaten up and no-one wants their girlfriend to think they’re a loser. Matt approaches Adam and Steven and tells them all the houses they looked at were useless. Adam isn’t bothered since he thinks Ernie won’t evict them until he’s got new tenants.
Adam finds Paul playing the piano at the surf club and says he’s sorry he broke up with Emma. He suggests she only wanted to stop Paul getting hurt. Paul suggests Adam could get back with her but Adam knows she isn’t interested and says it would be a shame if they all lost out, given that Paul obviously likes her. Adam arrives home to find Marilyn cleaning the place and she explain they’ve got prospective tenants coming round. Adam tells her to stop, reminding her and Matt the tenants will take the place off them. Both of them seem bemused so he explains there’s a way for them to stay.
That night, at the Fletcher house, Carly, Ben, Steven and Sophie are preparing to eat dinner and wonder where Pippa’s got to. Carly makes jokes about what she and Don are doing which Steven doesn’t seem to find amusing. Pippa, Don and Christopher arrive and Pippa begins telling them what a good time she had and how Leah used to be serious but has loosened up since she got divorced. Don seems a bit left out and leaves. He finds Bobby watching television at home. He tells her a bit about the afternoon but they both seem engrossed in the romantic film.
Emma is serving a customer at the store when Paul arrives. She apologises to him for interfering, babbling about how much she likes him, but he cuts her short with a kiss and tells her she’s forgiven. They hug.
