Blake blames himself for his mother’s death.

Extended Summary

Carly brings in the mail and talks to Ben. They are troubled since neither of them can find any work. Ben will apply them both for some odd small work instead. Carly thinks it is a bad idea.

Alf talks to Ailsa and say that it is something troubling Blake about Margo’s death. Ailsa say they will have to handle this one carefully.

Ben and Carly get a job that consists of handing out pamphlets. They will only get about 35 dollars each! Carly isn’t impressed with it but is ok with it since it is better than nothing at all at least.

The exam continues. Fisher tells the class that the time is over now. Maz and Steven have to wait behind after the exam and talk to Fisher in his office. They talk to Fisher in his office. They were 10 minutes late for this exam. Fisher isn’t impressed of course. They explain what happened and that they slept in because of too much studying. Fisher is ok with it. He wishes them the best of luck on the exam even though he doesn’t really think they need it. Fisher talks to them about how far Maz have managed to work herself up in the school work. (Emotional music)

Ben and Carly start their jobs to hand out pamphlets. It is a very large area for them to cover where they will be handing out the pamphlets.

They start their jobs after they have met the guy they are working for. Carly and Ben will go in different areas to save time and to cover more territory.

Ailsa talks to Karen and asks if Margo’s death is troubling Blake a lot or something like that. Karen doesn’t think it is something serious (even though she knows that Blake feels very guilty for it but Karen doesn’t say that to Ailsa). Ailsa wants Karen to speak to Blake about it. Karen says ok.

Steven and Maz are in the Diner and drinks milkshake and juice to celebrate that they’ve just finished their last exam.

Karen tell Blake that Alf, Ailsa and Grant suspect that there is something that he is hiding about his mum’s death or that there’s something that is troubling him about it. They walk and talk about it. Karen is worried. Blake says it is nothing to worry about.

Blake and Karen talk more about their mum’s cancer that ended in death and that Blake blames himself for it. Karen again says that it isn’t his fault. They argue about it. Karen wants Blake to “own up” about it to Alf and Ailsa etc. Blake won’t do that so he will make up a story so Alf and the rest won’t find out the truth. Karen and Blake get emotionally upset over talking about their mum. (Emotional music)

Carly and Ben handle out more pamphlets with a few problems. Carly meets an angry dog at one house and hurries away from there!

And Ben comes to a guy that doesn’t want any junk mail. He is annoyed at Ben and tells him to nick off!

Blake talks to Alf about what Blake and Karen talked about. Blake says he isn’t ready to talk about it yet. Alf say he can talk to him about it or to some counsellor.

Blake comes up with a lie and say that it was his mum’s birthday yesterday and that’s the reason why he was so emotionally upset.

Blake are about to tell Karen about his great idea to get Alf and them off their backs about their mum’s death.

Blake speaks to Grant about why he have acting so troubled lately. Blake apologises and explains to him (by lying) and tells him about Margo’s birthday. Grant tell Fisher that he know that Blake aren’t telling the truth anyway.

Carly has very sore feet and takes a footbath at home after a day of hard work of handing out a lot of pamphlets.

Steven calculates their profit and realise they’ve are on minus! He means that they spent petrol and Carly’s worn-out shoes that cost a lot and that they earned less money than it was worth!

Carly say they have to apply for the dole since they’ve got to live and they can’t find any good work that gives them some money. Ben feels bad about it but agrees after a while that they have to apply for the dole.

Maz are looking forward to see her HSC results. She tells Fisher see wants to become a teacher if she does well.

She will go to teachers college! Fisher hears it and doesn’t know what to say.

Blake lies on his bed and looks at a photo of his mum Margo. He thinks about her and is very sorry for her death. (Voiceover scene where he say how sorry he is and that he didn’t want to hurt her etc). (Emotional music)
