Extended Summary
At the diner Matt asks Carly to get a customers, saying she hasn’t done any work since she started. Carly retorts to this and starts talking to Steven at the counter about how long a break there is between school terms. Steven agrees, he’s annoyed that he’s having to wait so long for his exams results, which are coming out tomorrow. Marilyn comes in and she is uptight about her results. Adam is very blase about the HSC, Matt says he’s doing fine without one (mmm!) and Carly says that if she had her time again she would certainly have tried harder. Marilyn goes on about how she wants to make something of her life and not just work in the diner and being a housekeeper. She doesn’t know what she’s going to do, but she’s going to do something and that may involve leaving the bay.
Pippa is annoyed that the goat has ruined her sheets. Ben offers to buy her a new set, but Pippa says that all she wants is for the goat to stop devouring anymore of her laundry. Ben mentions that Sally is looking after her. Pippa is worried that the goat may attack one of the guests, but Ben says that won’t happen and that they are very cheap to feed. Ben tries to promote the fact that it will produce goats milk, but Pippa tells him no one in the family actually likes goats milk. Ben tells her she was unsure about the chickens at first, but now she gets fresh eggs every morning. Pippa tells him that as soon as the goat even looks at the garden, it is history.
Marilyn is talking about getting jobs in computers, but Adam seems unsure as to whether she should get her hopes up as she hasn’t received the HSC. Marilyn says that it might not be the greatest mark, but she’s in a better position than before. Adam is obviously worried about Marilyn leaving him behind.
Haydn talks to Steven about how Ben got the goat as a trade-in for the van. Steven jokes about how it’s good then that he didn’t get Ben to sell his bike. Haydn is interested in Steven’s bike and Steven agrees to give him first offer as long as he is quick about it. When Haydn asks Michael, Michael says he’s not going to spend
