Sally tries to control her grief for Pippa and Michael’s sake. Fisher desperately tries to get in touch with the runaway Angel.
Extended Summary
At the Diner Fisher tells Ailsa and Bobby that Angel had done nothing wrong and if she hadn’t overheard his conversation, she wouldn’t have run away. Finlay comes in to ask for an advance on her wages but when she says she wants in for food, Bobby steps in and says she can have something from the Diner menu. She tells them that Pippa and Michael are just about coping and that the funeral will be soon.
At the Surf Club, Nick comes in and finds Damian in a bad mood. He feels responsible for Angel running off, so Nick suggests they try but they have no luck. They return to Fisher’s home to discuss what to do next, unaware that Angel is trying to hitch-hike out of Summer Bay and not having much luck. Shane comes in and is surprised to find Damian there and reminds him he should be at home getting ready for his date with Michelle. Back on the road, Angel finally gets a lift from a lorry driver.
Back at the Ross home, Sally tells Finlay they should make Mother’s Day a really special day for Pippa but Finlay thinks that is a bad idea. When Michael returns from work and goes upstairs to see Pippa, Sally is critical of him going back to work and Finlay explains that it’s his way of dealing with his grief – to keep busy. Pippa is in a bad way and when Michael suggests they postpone their grief counselling session a the hospital, she won’t because she needs some answers. Downstairs, Sally is telling Damian off for arranging a date at this sad time as Pippa and Michael walk in. When Finlay tells them how Sally feels, Pippa takes her to one side and says it’s not a problem. They leave for their session at the hospital and give Damian a lift, leaving Sally still angry that everyone appears to be acting as if nothing has happened.
At the Diner, Michelle is all over Shane and he tells her to behave because Damian will be coming in soon. She reminds him, she’s only agreed to go out with Damian so she could have a proper date with him. In the kitchen, Pippa is preparing to go to the Ross house and tries to persuade Bobby to come but she still feels partly responsible for Dale’s death and thinks she should keep her distance. Damian arrives and takes Michelle off to the pictures and Shane goes home. He’s talking to Nick about his setting up Damian, when Fisher comes in and asks Nick if the Highway Patrol can keep an eye out for Angel. He says it will be unofficial and goes to phone the police.
Meanwhile, Damian’s date is not going too well because Michelle met an old girlfriend called Regine and ignored him. So, he decides he’s had enough and hands the tickets to Michelle and goes home.
Ailsa goes to see Pippa and Michael and she tells Pippa about Bobby’s reluctance to come over. Pippa feels bad about it and asks Ailsa to tell Bobby to come over. Pippa tells her about how well the session went but the support group meeting shocked her but it helped. They were advised to bring Christopher home and Ailsa tells them she will get Alf to bring him home in the morning. After Ailsa leaves, Pippa breaks down and Michael helps her through it. Next morning, Pippa admits she had a good night’s sleep and that her crying must have helped. She decides she’ll talk to Sally after breakfast and suggest she joins the support group for kids in her situation.
Out on the beach Damian tells Shane what a boring night he had and when Shane suggest a foursome with the two girls, they make a joke about it. They go to the Diner, where Bobby has decided to go and see Pippa and Michael but is worried about saying the wrong things. Ailsa says she’ll manage and not to worry about it. Damian and Shane are talking about Angel and can’t understand why Fisher is taking such an interest in her. Back home, Nick thinks the police have found Angel and they have told her the good news. Now all they have to do, is wait for her to return but Shane thinks otherwise.
Bobby and Pippa are reconciled and she joins the family for breakfast but Sally is missing. Finlay tells them that Sally had a nightmare during the night and got up early and left.
It ends with Sally sitting on the beach crying, clutching Dale’s little teddy bear.
