Extended Summary
Pippa returns home to find Michael and Christopher playing and she tells him about the conversation she had with Ailsa about the cot. Michael puts Christopher to bed and comes downstairs and they talk about what to do with the cot. They agree to take it to a second hand shop in Yabbie Creek, after Pippa thanks him for sticking by her since Dale’s death.
Down at the Surf Club, Damian makes the final shot to win the game but he pots the white ball as well and Nick comes out the winner. Nick gives him half the winnings because that what they agreed to do and talk about how things are at home. Damian says things are tight and it’s proving difficult to replace his running shoes, with part-time jobs being scarce.
Next morning, all’s well at the beach house where Greg’s getting the tackle ready to take Sam fishing and Bobby’s forgiven him for the previous day’s events. At the Fisher house, Shane and Angel are on tender hooks as they hope Fisher won’t notice anything’s amiss in the kitchen. Angel has replaced the broken mug with a vase of flowers, which Fisher notices and compliments her on, before going off to get some groceries. Shane has a go at her for doing that but she says it was to cover up the fact the mug was missing and reminds them they’ve got a couple of hours to find a replacement, so they start ringing round. Fisher goes to the Diner, where Bobby’s talking to Nick about his pub trip with Greg but when things get a little too awkward, Nick pretends he’s not well and leaves. Bobby thinks he’s got a crush on one of the barmaids because he didn’t want to talk about it and he can’t lie to save himself. Fisher reflects that he wishes Shane was like that but he never knows whether he’s telling the truth or not. He goes on to say that he and Angel are at home doing the cleaning and remarks that they did a great job in the kitchen but something is not quite right. She finds it amusing and he puts his suspicions down to his thirty years of teaching and goes off to get the shopping. Back home, Shane’s not having much luck on the phone, so Angel decides to take over but Fisher comes back to see if they’ve started on the lounge room yet but they haven’t. He leaves them to put the shopping away but Angel makes a call and strikes lucky but now they need a good excuse, to get out of the house. Angel goes off to get it and Shane tells Fisher she’s gone to get some furniture polish but when she returns, she doesn’t see Fisher at first and nearly gives the game away. Still unaware of what’s going on, Fisher leaves them to it and the vase of flowers are removed from the top of the fridge, to make way for the treasured mug. They are relieved to have got one over Fisher and their icy relationship seems to be melting.
As Michael and Pippa gather up Dale’s belongings, Damian persuades Michael to let him back the Ute up to the door and gives him the car keys. Alf arrives with the delivery and is not impressed with his driving skills as he backs up and narrowly avoids hitting his car. When Michael and Pippa come out, Alf tells Michael just what he thinks of Damian’s driving but Michael says he just needs more practice and the two of them go into the house, taking the box from Alf, to collect Dale’s things. Alf talks about Ailsa feeling bad about putting her foot in it with Pippa over Dale’s cot but she tells him they’ve sorted it out now but it’s still not easy. When Michael and Damian return later, he gives her the 50 dollars he got for the cot and Pippa then gives it to Damian for his running shoes. He’s reluctant at first to take it but Michael agrees with Pippa and he thanks them. Later on, Michael and Pippa take a walk along the beach and talk about not forgetting Dale.
Down on the beach, Greg and Sam aren’t having much luck with the fish but Greg tells him he’s got to be patient; they’ll come. Nick comes along and takes him to one side and tells him about the incident at the Diner with Bobby and Fisher and wishes he’d never been put in a position where he has to lie to his friends. Greg gets worried but Nick realises he can’t do anything about it and says he’ll do nothing. Back home, the fishing came good in the end and Greg talks to Sam about his real mother and reminds him, that although he doesn’t see her anymore, he mustn’t forget she loves him.
Nick goes home and Fisher tells him that Bobby thinks he’s taken up drinking because he fancies one of the barmaids, which he denies but then things get awkward, when Angel and Shane innocently say he couldn’t have gone down to the pub because he was at home with them. He tells them to drop it and Fisher remarks that the vase of flowers looked better on top of the fridge and but when he sees the mug, there’s something. He takes the mug down and points out the Bambi has now grown a full set of antlers and looks to Shane and Angel for the answer.
Bobby’s impressed with the fish Greg and Sam caught and Greg takes some of it over to Fisher’s but doesn’t stay long when Nick makes a sarcastic remark about having a hangover. Nick tells Shane and Angel the next time they break something, they should own up to it and leaves them doing the washing up. As they talk about the hassle of replacing the mug, they momentarily forget their differences but as soon as Shane waivers her cost of the mug, she jumps to the wrong conclusion and he’s lost for words, as she storms out.
It ends when Greg takes the remainder of the fish over to Fiona and she gives him a kiss on the cheek, as her way of thanking him…
