Damian calls off training because of Laura’s ingratitude. Shane proves his insensitivity once again.
Extended Summary
We start off at Fisher’s place again, where Shane’s got a box full of stuff for the Refuse sale and jokes about it being funny if Fisher became his slave at the Auction. Fisher comments he can’t believe he’s been roped into it and goes to get his contribution. When Angel looks through the stuff Shane’s getting rid of, she’s disgusted because there are quite a lot of things that are still in good condition. Amongst it, is a brand new tie Fisher bought for him but he never wore and it’s this attitude of his that angers her and calls him a rich spoilt kid. At the beach house Greg’s still trying to off-load Sam so he can keep his date with Fiona but he’s not having much luck. When Bobby goes to attend to Sam, he phones a client to arrange to do her garden the next day, instead of next week. Early next morning he goes to see Fiona and explains what’s happened. He’s unhappy about it but she assures him, she understands and there’ll be other times for them.
Damian goes over to Laura’s for his training session and starts on about getting her car fixed when she says she’s off to Yabbie Creek for some sugar. She tells him to drop it and get on with his training, not forgetting to do his warm-up exercises first. She leaves and Damian makes a start but he still thinks she is crazy, walking to Yabbie Creek for groceries.
Pippa takes her contribution over to the beach house, where chaos reigns as Greg’s still trying to find a solution to the ‘Sam’ problem. He’s delighted when Pippa offers to take him back to her place but Sam doesn’t want to go, when all he’ll be doing is helping Sally with her school project. Fisher arrives with his contribution and Greg tries to persuade him to have Sam again but to no avail, so he resigns himself to the fact he’ll be doing gardening instead of enjoying Fiona’s company. Back at Fisher’s, Shane tries to get Nick to give him an advance on his pocket money because he wants to participate in the Auction. Angel appears to have lost something and when Fisher returns, he delights in giving Shane back the tie, knowing full well, it wasn’t a mistake it ended up in the charity box. Nick finds it funny as he goes to get ready for work and Angel’s annoyed, she can’t find her trainers. From the next room, Fisher hears Angel tearing a strip off Shane for putting her missing trainers in the charity box. She goes on at him about how she’s struggling to survive on what little she has, whereas all he’s got to do, is turn to Nick. Fisher takes her to the beach house and Bobby tells her where they might be. While she’s looking for them Fisher tells Bobby about Angel’s financial problems and wonders what can be done about for her. Back at his house, Shane thinks Angel’s been unfair on him and he isn’t prepared for Nick’s response. As Nick points out, Angel’s a hardened street kid and her values are different from his because he’s always had somewhere to live. When Shane protests he’s lived rough, Nick laughs and says he hasn’t got a clue. He tells him to try and put himself in Angel’s position and it gives Shane something to think about.
Damian returns from his training run, to find Laura’s not there and when he sees the vegetables on the table, he decides to take them to see if Alf can sell them. At the store, he gets Alf to agree to a fifty, fifty split, with Damian acting as the go-between. Sally comes in and as she’s talking to Alf about her project, Greg and Sam arrive. When Sam hears what she’s doing, he wants to go with her and Greg’s delighted to be rid of him at last. He heads off to Fiona’s place but this time she’s not as welcoming as before but he manages to sweet talk her round and they prepare for the picnic. Alf’s doing a delivery run and sees Laura walking home. He stops to tell her about the deal he did with Damian but of course she knows nothing about it. She’s furious and storms over to the caravan park to confront Damian. She startles Pippa, who is taking a break out in the sunshine and goes inside where Sally, Christopher and Sam are working on the project. Damian is watching them and is taken aback by Laura’s outburst and warns him, if he ever crosses her again, he’ll have to find another trainer. She almost knocks Pippa off her crutches, as she rushes out. Damian explains to Pippa what the argument was about and Pippa has to agree with Laura’s point of view and says he’s now got to do some explaining to Alf. Down at the store, Bobby makes a quick exit when Damian arrives and Alf lets rip at him for causing him so much trouble. He gives him the money from the sale of the vegetables and tells him to make sure Laura gets it. Greg and Fiona enjoy their picnic, agreeing to make the most of their time together; then they end up kissing.
Angel returns home with her shoes and refuses to forgive Shane, even though he apologises to her again. Fisher makes the situation worse, when he offers her a permanent place to stay because she takes it the wrong way. She thinks it’s a hand out and she retorts she can support herself and find her own place to live.
Damian goes over to see Laura and gives her the money, which she refuses to accept. He loses his cool and has a go at her, saying he did what he did, to help her. He dumps the money down on the table and before he leaves, her calls her weird and says he doesn’t need her help anymore.
It ends, where for once, she appears to be lost for words…
