Extended Summary

Everyone rushes out of the classrooms and Fisher yells to everyone not to panic, but they still race out to the school yard. He asks Roxy has she counted them and she answers that she hasn’t yet. He tells her to count the juniors and he’ll do the seniors. The fire engine arrives and Fisher introduces himself as the principal. He is asked has he seen the smoke and he admits he hasn’t and suggests it may be coming from the basement. The firemen search for the fire. After looking around, they tell each other that there is no fire and that it is a hoax.

The fire officer tells Fisher that one of his students must have pulled a prank and that their time and taxpayers’ money has been wasted. He also tells him that he should also inform his students that while they are at a hoax, they could have been at a real fire somewhere else. Fisher tells him that the person responsible will be dealt with severely.

Alf continues to refuse to go to the chiropractor. Ailsa insists he is going and he realises that he has no say in it. After the visit, they return with a corset. She tells him to put it on but he refuses. She tells him no one will see it as it will be under his clothes. He still says no, and she is furious with him.

Ailsa is working in Alf’s store. Shane and Damian arrive in and Shane asks her where Tug is. She tells him he is doing deliveries on foot and also mentions that Alf is at home with a bad back. She suggests they go over to Alf to ask him about doing deliveries.

Shane and Damian are at the Stewarts’ to ask about doing deliveries. Alf is not overjoyed with the idea as he does not trust them. He agrees to let them do the deliveries. Shane and Damian are ready to leave when Shane, being nosey, spots something on the table. He picks it up and laughs when he discovers it is a corset. Alf is angry and tells him to put it back. Shane makes a few jokes about it and Damian laughs. Being furious, Alf orders them to get out and tells them they can forget the deliveries.

Shane starts giving Jack a hard time. During a break, he tells him to go to the Diner for burgers. Jack refuses and Shane then reminds him of the fire alarm and suggests telling Fisher. He gives up and goes for the burgers. Jack then comes over to Fishers’ with the burgers. After Angel has finished icing her cake for Sarah, Shane tells her that Jack wants to do the washing up. She is suspicious but does not complain. Later on, when Damian and Angel are not in the living room, Jack tells Shane that he has enough of his jobs. Shane asks him why he set off the alarm – is it the essay? He tells him he is more stupid than he thought as he would’ve just got detention. Now Jack has Shane on his back forever!

Angel has baked a cake in food tech for Sarah and goes over to see her. Sarah is still upset, and Angel asks her does she remember them pigging out on black forest cakes. Sarah tells her she does not care about this and says goodbye to her. Angel is disappointed and leaves. Sarah tells her she forgot her cake and Angel tells her she can keep it. She says she does not want it.

Jack is at home doing Shane’s lines when the phone rings. Damian answers and Shane tells him to pass a message to Jack. The message is passed to Jack: he is to turn up at Fishers’ in the next morning before school for a few more jobs. Jack is getting fed up with Shane and goes to school. Fisher is there and Jack tells him he has something to say. Fisher thinks it is about the essay, but Jack tells him it’s not that. Jack admits he is the one who set the fire alarm off…
