Extended Summary

Tom pawns some of his CDs to pay for the motorcycle. Tom stores the bike at Jesse’s house, so that Jesse can repair it. Unknown to Jesse, Tom is hiding the bike from his parents.

Fisher ‘properly’ introduces himself to Guy, explaining that he is Marilyn’s husband, and not her father. Guy is very embarrassed, and Marilyn explains that Guy was a very good friend to her while she was away. Guy says that he got the wrong idea about their friendship and Marilyn was unaware that he felt that way. While Fisher is on the phone to Irene, Marilyn apologises to Guy for not telling him about Fisher and Byron – she was ashamed for having walked out on them. Guy says that he loves her. Fisher then announces that he won’t be going to school, so they have the whole day to sort things out.

Marilyn and Guy are honest about their friendship. Marilyn tells Fisher that Guy said he loved her, and Fisher then asks Guy to leave. Marilyn says she was ashamed of leaving Fisher and Byron. She only came back because she made a friend (Guy) who helped her realise that life wasn’t as hopeless as she thought. Marilyn thanks Guy for looking after her whilst she was away and suffering from post-natal depression, but she loves Fisher and Byron. She tells Fisher that he and Byron are all she’ll ever want. Guy leaves, telling Fisher that he’s a very lucky man.

Natalie drops round to visit Jesse to ask him about motorbikes. They go to the diner, where they laugh about how Natalie impressed her mechanic with Jesse’s imparted knowledge. Alf offers them more coffee and picks Natalie’s baseball cap off the floor. During lunch break, Natalie gives Gypsy her baseball cap for cover as Gypsy claimed that she was going to the beach. Gypsy then goes to Jesse’s place. Alf arrives and asks Jesse to cover a shift at the bait shop, causing Gypsy to hide beside the couch. When Alf notices Natalie’s baseball cap on the lounge and then hears Gypsy sneezing, he puts two and two together and makes a hasty exit. Alf blusters to Ailsa how he’s convinced that Natalie is having an affair with Jesse – pointing to the baseball cap as proof. Ailsa is far from convinced. When Natalie comes into the diner, Ailsa has to cut Alf off before he says something he shouldn’t.

Justine tells Gypsy that she wishes she knew what the other people had said in their statements, so Gypsy tells her to ask them. Justine leaves school because she is unable to concentrate because of the investigation. Justine visits James at the surgery to ask him what he told the police. James says that he doesn’t think that this is proper. Justine appeals to him as a friend. James then tells her that the Collins baby’s injuries didn’t match Justine’s description of its fall on the first night. James explains that he simply related the facts and made no judgements. Personally, he does not think that Justine is guilty. Justine then goes to the diner, where she confronts Mrs Collins over lying to the police about what happened to the baby. Travis and Rebecca pull Justine away, telling Justine that she’s just making things worse for herself. At home, Joel suggests to Travis that they should get a lawyer involved soon, as Justine has been bothering police witnesses. Joel says that the Collinses have taken out a restraining order against Justine. Travis agrees that they should get a lawyer. Soon after, the police arrive to arrest Justine for ‘assault on an infant occasioning gross bodily harm’. Justine nearly collapses from the shock as the police read out her rights.
