Tom and Justine crash his motorbike. Will thinks he’s discovered the secret about Peta’s gran. John snubs Hayley’s “sorry book”. The cop who took John away from his mother offers to help find her.
Extended Summary
Will gives up waiting on Peta’s gran arriving back from Yabbie Creek and goes home. He tells Sam he believes that Peta made sure her Gran would be out when he arrived so he would not be able to see her. Will says that no one has seen Peta’s gran and lists a number of reasons along with Hayley about Peta’s gran. Reasons such as her Gran being a drug addict or that she may have left to themselves. Peta meanwhile is going through a pile of bills and tells David they are short of money so David says he will leave Summer Bay to go to the city to get a job.
Sam wonders about Hayley and the apology to John as he thinks he would want to be treated different if he were in John’s situation. Hayley is offended and says she thinks Sam just wants to forget about the past. John goes to the Caravan Park and tells Nat that Joel should mind his own affairs not his. Hayley decides that there should be a “Sorry book” for John to apologise for what happened to him when he was a child. Sam refuses to sign saying why should he sign for something he did not do. Joel says sorry to John for interfering and says he has already contacted a policeman Les O’Connell who took John away from his mum and is on his way to Summer Bay. John is angry and later when Les and Joel visit John at school he does not want to listen to him. He asks Les how he can sleep at night after what he did to John when he was a young boy. In class Hayley hands John the Sorry book but John is concentrating and just says thank you he will look at it later. He sets his class work to do and then leaves them and goes to the Ross House. He talks with Les about what happened all these years ago, Les says he is sorry about what happened but at the time he thought he was doing what was right. Les offers to help John find his family and John accepts.
Natalie tells off Justine for not hanging up the washing and Tom explains that he and Justine were busy studying. Tom and Justine decide to go for a ride on the motorbike and Justine says to Tom that he is the only one that understands the pressure she is feeling. Tom and Justine have an accident on the motorbike with them flying off the road. Tom is unconscious and when he awakes he has hurt his arm and Justine has to help him get up. When they arrive back home they make up a story which Joel does not quite believe but Rebecca says the main thing is that they are OK. The following day Tom and Justine talk about the motorbike and how the accident was just bad luck and Justine tells Tom she thinks they should keep the motorbike. She gets Vinnie to help her retrieve the bike and put it back in its hiding place in the bush. However Rebecca catches them and looks as if Justine is in big trouble!
