Extended Summary

Justine’s defence barrister arrives at the Caravan Park House to see Justine. He goes through Justine’s memories of the night when Ruby Collins was first hurt. He pretends to be the Prosecution barrister and makes Justine upset. He tells Justine that she must stay calm when she is being cross-examined. His questions are sometimes brutal and Tom is concerned about this but he tells them that Justine will face much harder treatment and questions at the trial. When the barrister goes she is upset and goes to her room followed by Tom. Justine has a shock when her Mother arrives at the Caravan Park to see her.

Will attempts to get Sam to have a talk with Hayley about Mitch. Sam thinks he may have reached a judgement too quickly and asks why Mitch was in the house. She tells Sam her side of the story. Later Hayley and Mitch are in his hiding place and hear Sam and Will talking. He is moaning about Hayley and says to Will he is not sure about trusting her. Will stands up for Hayley and tries to pacify Sam. Hayley is furious about what she heard and later tells Sam that they should have some time apart to think about their relationship.

James takes Alf aside at the Hospital and explains how guilty Duncan feels about the accident and how he didn’t help Ailsa. Alf doesn’t blame Duncan for not having helped her. Duncan falls asleep at his mum’s beside and dreams of Ailsa asking him for help. Duncan later tells Alf about how he dropped a cassette at her feet, which she reached for, and that’s what caused the accident. Alf for once is speechless. Later though he talks to Donald and tells him that he feels bitterly towards Duncan especially after his bad behaviour since he came home from Hospital. Alf has a moment with Ailsa alone and tells her that he and Duncan really need her.

James has a go at Chloe and tries to persuade her to give Diana another chance. He tells her that she would never hurt Olivia, as that is all that is left of Lachie and that he meant the world to Diana. James tells her that he thought the Chloe of all people would understand how she feels. Diana is on the beach looking up at the house, Chloe considers phoning Joel but Irene talks her out of it. Chloe then goes to talk to her and Diana who is crying says she is sorry and says how much Lachie loved her they hug.
