Extended Summary
Hayley asks Noah if she fought with Alex, and wants to know if he would tell her if there was ‘something’. Noah avoids the question, wanting to concentrate on the ‘here and now’
Kane and Kirsty have an intense arguement, with her insisting that she doesn’t want the baby – she’s not his ‘baby machine’ (!), and it’s her body. He is furious, and in the yelling and arms flying around situation that follows, he raises his hand to strike her, stopping himself ‘just in time’. She is stunned and the arguement abruptly ends, with her heading out the door. He stands alone, looking ashamed and shocked at his own actions.

CARAVAN PARK
Kirsty is having a chat with Beth about her ‘fight’ with Kane, and the fairy godmother reassures her that ‘all couples fight from time to time’ – it’s inevitable that she and Kane will, especially as they’re so young and with a baby on the way. Kirsty feels that she needs some time away from Kane, and Beth suspects that there is more to it than Kirsty is letting on – Kirsty denies it, but Beth isn’t looking too convinced, but suggests they go and get some of her things – she can stay at the caravan park. Kirsty turns her down – she already has somewhere to stay. Kirsty makes her excuses and leaves, after making Beth agree not to say anything to Rhys.
WHARF
Kane throws the gear a bit too violently onto the boat, and it doesn’t take a genius to work out that something is troubling him. Just as well, as Scott arrives and wonders what has put his colleague in a strop. Kane requests some time out – he has some personal stuff to sort out before they leave. He’s too late though – the Americans who have booked the charter arrive, squabbling between themselves. They do the introductions, and Kane seizes the woman’s bag to chuck into the boat.
CARAVAN PARK
Whilst doing the washing, Beth finds paint on Henry’s shirt… it seems that he has been sprung. When she confronts Henry, however, he is clueless about how wthe paint got there, blaming it on Max, as he is ‘always borrowing his clothes’.
SURF CLUB
Matilda is panicking that their Mum ‘knows’, and Henry is getting tired of it – there’s no proof, and they can just keep blaming things on Max. Matilda has had a turnaround regarding Max though, and reckons he’s not too bad – she actually finds him ‘cute’ – “not like Toby McGuire cute, but cuddly little puppy cute”, and she feels bad about what they did to him. Rhys allows them to have their drinks for free, and Matilda decides to suck up to her step-Dad, complimenting his shirt – “it makes you look totally stylish!”, and voicing a decision to call him ‘Uncle Rhys’… it isn’t surprising that Rhys looks bewildered, and Henry is also puzzled by Tilly’s actions… she tells him that it could be useful to have Rhys on side. Henry doesn’t care – just so long as ‘the plan’ works and they can get out of the ‘hell hole’.
BEACH HOUSE
Dani arrives, calling out to see whether anyone is home… well, seeing as the door is stood wide open, the law of probability would establish that someone is about. Sure enough, Kirsty emerges from her room, excusing herself from Dani’s proposed shopping trip, because she doesn’t feel too good – it’s ‘about the baby’. She rejects Dani’s offer of help, just wanting to go and have a lie down, so, feeling all rejected, Dani decides to go and hover around Hayley’s hospital bedside instead. Dani wonders why Kirsty didn’t contribute much at dinner – is everything alright with Kane? Kirsty didn’t think anyone would care whether things were bad for her and Kane, but Dani insists that her happiness matters A LOT to them. Kirsty is adamant that she’s happy, before making an escape to her room.
BLAXLAND
The boat pulls away from the Bay, and Scott notices that kane has been distant, guessing correctly that the ‘personal thing’ he had to sort out regarded Kirsty. Kane admits to a ‘disagreement’, and Scott chuckles at the fact Kane is ‘in the doghouse’, wondering what it was all about. Kane doesn’t reply, and instead ponder how things can go from being so right to so wrong in such a short space of time. Scott tries to convince him not to fret – by the time they get back from the charter, it’ll all be water under the bridge.
BEACH HOUSE
Another nice piece of music comes to the fore as Kirsty hurridely packs her bag, before pausing to look at the wedding photo. As the tears start, she places it into her bag, before zipping it up and hauling it out into the living area. Taking one look around, she departs.
SURF CLUB
Dani and Beth bump into one another, and Dani tells Beth that Kirsty pulled out of their day out – she said it was to do with the baby, but both of them reckon that something else is up – Beth tells Dani of Kirsty’s earlier visit. Rhys comes in just at the right time to blow up about Kane and Kirsty’s supposed ‘lovers spat’, and to say he is furious would be an understatement – he ‘knew’ Kane would mess her about. Beth tries to calm him down – does he not realise all couples have their fallings out, and wonders how he would feel if her parents were to interfere in their marriage. She encourages her husband to give them some time.
DINER
Matilda is having a ‘praise Max’ day, trying to get Henry to like their new step-cousin – he’s not so bad, as he never dobbed them in to ‘the doctor’, but Henry hates the prospect of her finding ANY positives about life in the Bay – least of all their new family. Henry is starting to sound distinctly like Kane not so long ago, insisting that they MUST stick to the plan. According to Henry, he and Matilda will either be going back to boarding school, or back to the farm. They decide to liven things up a bit…
Norman arrives, cheerily bidding a good mornign to Colleen, and wonders why she isn’t talking to him. She tells him that she is not prepared to be his floozy – she knew how much it hurt her when Les ran off with a younger woman, and doesn’t want to put Norman’s wife through the same pain. Norman is puzzled to say the least – he isn’t married! Colleen doesn’t believe him, and Alf interrupts the pair by announcing that he is off to visit Hayley.
Henry starts shouting the diner down, and Alf and Colleen rush to find him complaining loudly about the cockroach he found in his ice cream. Alf and Colleen try to hush it up, offering them more ice cream on the house. As Alf and Colleen leave, Matilda and Henry have the look of victory on their faces.
HOSPITAL
Hayley is learning more everyday, and Dani confirms that she and Scott have moved into the Palace ‘with she and Noah’. Alf’s arrival releases Dani’s stress, and he come bearing gifts – flowers and Leah’s home-made cookies, despite Hayley being unable to eat them. The flowers are from Alex – “Hope you’re feeling better, no matter what you’re still special to me. Love Alex”. Dani recites the card, and needless to say it does nothing to soothe Hayley’s confusion – what does Alex mean by “you’re still special to me”. Alf and Dani don’t admit to the lies, telling her that there’s just a lot of people out there that love her.
BREAK
CARAVAN PARK
Dani worries about Hayley, and how hard she is trying to remember. The phone interrupts she and Beth’s converstaion… it’s Shelley – Kirsty has gone to stay with her. The phone breaks up before Beth can get the details though, and now it’s Dani’s turn to start jumping to conclusions – she assumes that Kane has done something to Kirsty, as there is ‘no other explanation’ – Kirsty would do anything for Kane, yet now she is running away. How do they know for sure that he has changed?
GYM
Jesse watches in earnest as Henry and Matilda talk secretively next to the pinball machine, and when Rhys and Alf enter, discussing what Hayyley’s going through, the terrible twins kick up a fuss. According to them, the machine ate some of their money… after what happened earlier, Alf is slightly suspicious, and hesistates before giving Henry the money out of his own pocket. Jesse intervenes – he was watching and the twins put NO money into that machine. Rhys is livid, and demands that the twins get home – but not before Henry returns the cash to Alf.
BLAXLAND
The American bloke seems to be in an odd mood as he and his wife (?) prepare to dive, and tell Scott and Kane that they will be an hour. Kane voices worries about being out of the charter area – and the diving zone, but Scott tells him that they are only adapting to what the customer wants. Scott praises Kane’s work on the boat, before reassuring him that things will be fine with Kirsty once they get back. Kane can only half-heartedly agree, telling Scott that he’s a positive guy. Scott explains his reasoning – things are finally falling into line with Kane – he has the job, a kid on the way and the family is even letting him in. So long as he and Kirsty stick together, he’s “invincible”
CARAVAN PARK
Rhys gives Henry and Matilda a harsh talking to – he understands where they’re coming from, as it can’t be easily settling in, but there is no money for them to be sent to boarding school and the farm is sold, therefore there is no choice but for them to stay in the Bay. If they’re going to kep up the trouble (although the twins continue to deny everything) they’ll find themselves grounded every weekend. Henry and Matilda look to their mother for backup – only their father could talk to them as Rhys is doing, but Beth backs her husband – she doesn’t understand why they’re pushing her patience. Rhys recognises that he isn’t their father, but insists that their unruly behaviour must stop, asking whether they understand. They choose not to answer.
BLAXLAND
Kane worries about the divers – they should be back ‘by now’, but Scott reckons they’re having a good time, and that they have enough oxygen for another half hour.
HOSPITAL
Jesse brings her some flowers ‘from the boss’ and she wonders why Josh is sending her flowers. Jesse must explain that they’re now in a partnership in the gym – he, she and Alex, and technically he isn’t her boss. It just serves to upset her – why can’t she remember? He tries to convince her that there is nothing wrong with her, but she is scared, and it seems she is becoming incresingly reliant on Noah’s support
CARAVAN PARK
Rhys feels good about setting the twins staright, but reckons they’ll see him as the cranky stepdad now. Beth supports him – they deserved it.
As they go for a cup of tea, Beth tells him about Shelley’s phone call, and how Kirsty is staying with her, and Rhys, for once, doesn’t go off on one, but wonders why Beth didn’t tell him sooner about she and Kirsty’s earlier chat regarding the ‘fight’. Rhys is disappointed that his daughter didn’t come to him, but Beth, ever reasonable, sees Kirsty’s reasoning – he’d probably have given her the “I told you so” speech, and anyway, it’d be easier for Kirsty to talk to her mother. Seeming to have had a delayed reaction, Rhys swears that if ‘Phillips’ has done anything to hurt Kirsty, he won’t be responsible for his actions
BLAXLAND
The divers still haven’t emerged, and Kane is getting panicky – what if they CAN’T surface? Scott is initially dismissive – they’ll come up when they’re ready – but Kane convinces him to give the motor a ‘rev’, as they’ve been gone for double the amount of time they were supposed to be. More problems bubble to the surface as Scott is unable to start the engine… Kane rolls his eyes, bemusedly muttering “Awesome” as Scott attempts to radio base. However, the radio has died too… it isn’t turning out to be the best of days for Kane.
HOSPITAL
Hayley has sweet dreams of kissing Josh… and Alex… and Noah’s face as he lifts the veil on her scarred face. It sends her into a state and she rips the bandages from her face, hysterically shrieking in horror as she sees her face in the mirror.
BLAXLAND
Kane has no luck trying to fix the engine, reminding Scott of his earlier advice not to take the boat out with the engine in such a state. He is also deeply concerned for the divers, knowing that no one will think to look for them until tommorrow, when they’re due back. Scott wants to be optimistic, but Kane is realistic – “The engine’s stuffed, we can’t radio for help, and there’s two people out there who could die” – if they do, it’s just the start of Scott’s problems…
