WHARF
Rhys arrives to see Scott, who is preoccupied and snappy. He’s sick to death of people telling him the Campbell’s will be alright, and wanting to help out, Rhys invites he and Dani over for dinner. Scott accepts, and Rhys tells him to get in touch if there’s anything he can do. Rhys departs as quickly as he arrived.
GYM
Kane is beating the stuffing out of a punchbag, to the shock of several random customers, who watch looking… shocked. Jesse comes off the phone and intervenes, nearly earning himself a black eye as Kane swings round to face him, gloves raised. Jesse reckons he’s intimidating the customers, and asks him to calm down, but Kane is just frustrated – he’s been talking to Flynn about the counselling, but nothing will do any good if he is unable to talk to Kirsty. Jesse reminds him of his advice – he reckons that, if it means that much to him, he should break the AVO, but Kane is dead set against the possility of being thrown in prison. Jesse has worked out that he wouldn’t get into trouble if he wasn’t reported – and what’s the chance Kirsty would turn him in if he went to apologise? Kane is left thinking as Jesse tells him that if he were in his shoes, he’d do whatever he had to.
THE PALACE
Noah and Hayley seem to be pretty much attached by the lips… until Hayley flinches – her face isn’t yet pain-free, and they resort to snuggling up and muttering sweet-nothings to one another instead. Dani walks into the kitchen, and overhears their jubilation at being given a second chance. Not wanting to disturb the moment, she turns and leaves, a smile spread across her face as Hayley announces that this time, they’re “for keeps”.
DINER
Scott and Alf are still stony-faced about the divers – they haven’t heard from coastal patrol and Alf is going to give them another call. Dani arrives to lighten the mood with the announcement that Noah and Hayley have finally worked things out. She then attempts to reassure Scott the divers will turn up, and he shouldn’t keep blaming himself, despite all the mistakes he made. All he knows is that he didn’t do his job properly, and all the suspicious theories are basically ‘wishful thinking’.
FLYNN’S PLACE
Flynn and Sally are all set for a quiet evening in as Flynn serves dinner. Unfortunately the happiness doesn’t last long, as Sally decides to spoil the mood by talking about her awful day at work – the department are messing around with the history curriculam and Hyde is on the warpath more than usual. She ponders what has gone on between he and Hyde in the past. Yet another interruption arrives in the form of Kane, who needs a private talk with Flynn.
THE PALACE
Scott and Dani arrives home, and they still have missing divers on their minds. Dani tries to be as supportive as possible – after all, he was her rock when she was at her worst and this time is ‘isn’t about her’. They wander through to the living area to find Noah and Hayley’s clothes scattered in a path that appears to lead upstairs. They decide against going to bed themselves, and Scott goes to put the kettle on.
FLYNN’S PLACE
Dinner plans seem to have been abandoned, and Sally has made herself scarce in order for Flynn and Kane to sit down for a cup of coffee. Kane is fed up of not doing anything, and mentions Jesse’s advice – Flynn is quick to set him straight, as even if Kirsty doesn’t phone the cops on him, Shelley or David will. Flynn is adamant that the best thing to do is give Kirsty some space – she’ll come back when she’s ready. Kane is concerned that she may never come back.
BEACH
Flynn talks to Jesse about his ‘wise’ advice to Kane, but Jesse sticks by his guns as regards Kane breaking the AVO – he doesn’t agree with the law, and he isn’t impressed that ex-counsellor Flynn can give his advice, whereas others can’t. Flynn insists that’s NOT what he’s saying, to which Jesse unemotionally replies “yeah? ok, sorry” before they set off on their jog. He tells Flynn about the other matter on his mind – Alex wants bought out of the gym, and neither he or Hayley will be able to get the money. He doesn’t want it hanging over his head, and just wants to find a buyer. His main concern is Hayley – she has enough on her plate already without this to worry about.
Elsewhere on the beach, Hayley catches up with Noah, who snuck out that morning before she was awake. However, things are still ‘ok’ between them, and he is amazed how quickly things have fallen back into place. She tells him that when they’re together it just feels “so right”, and he asks her to move back in with him. She accepts.
BREAK
THE PALACE
Noah and Hayley arrive back as Scott cooks breakfast for he and Dani. Scott and Dani are delighted for them as they announce that Hayley will be moving back in – however, Hayley isn’t as quick to jump at the chance to go back to uni, reckoning that she should wait a semester before returning, just to allow her face to get back to normal. Noah, Dani and Scott try to get through to her – he face IS better, there’s barely anything wrong with it, but she takes it as them trying to be kind, and walks off in a huff.
DINER
Scott tells Jesse about Hayley’s state of mind, and how she thinks that her face is still really bad. jesse seems to be the only thing she’s not messed up about, and this only escalates Jesse’s troubles about Alex and the gym. A cop arrives to tell Alf and Scott that the search for the Campbell’s has been called off, and Scott is angry and concerned that they have given up, and that there is a possibility of him being charged – it’s up to the coroner to decide, but Scott will be called as a witness.
OUTSIDE SURF CLUB
Dani bumps into Kane on her way to the Surf Club, and she brushes him off when he enquires about Kirsty – it’s none of his business anymore. He maintains that he never hit her, and Dani goes on to cut into him by telling Kane how well Kirsty is doing without him, and how she is moving on with her life. With a smile, she snidely suggests that he do the same.
As Dani leaves, Noah approaches Kane to suggest he gives the Sutherland’s some space. He is adamant that he is not going to walk away from his wife and kid and pretend that he doesn’t care, but Noah sees it as being for the best. Kane is in no mood to listen to yet more ‘helpful’ advice, and bluntly states that no one knows what they’re talking about.
SURF CLUB
The minute Kane walks through the door, Rhys is on his back, despite Dani’s pleas for him to leave it. Rhys makes a point of telling Kane that he and Kirsty are through, and when Kane states that he and Kirsty will sort it out between themselves, Rhys threatens him with the police.
Jesse arrives as Rhys walks off, and wants to know what is going on. Kane is irritated at Rhys getting in his face, and reckons that Rhys is lucky he didn’t flatten him, whereas Jesse thinks it’s the other way round. Kane doesn’t want another lecture, and Jesse asks him whether he has heard “the news”
DINER
Kane arrives as Scott comes off the phone to coastal patrol – there’s nothing that can be done, as the search is well and truly over. Kane gets fired up at the slightest possibility of the Campbell’s being alive, and is adamant that they must do something. Despite Alf’s opinion that the idea of them searching themselves is crazy, he is talked around by Scott and Kane.
BLAXLAND
Kane is at the wheel as Alf and Scott peer through binoculars in the hope of finding the missing divers. Alf is still cynical, but Scott seems to think that the professionals will have left someplace unsearched. Alf tries to make Scott face facts – even if a miracle happened and they found the divers, they wouldn’t be alive.
THE PALACE
Flynn examines Hayley’s face, and informs her that it’s healing nicely – she’ll notice the difference once the bruising goes down, and she’ll be fit to go back to work or uni sometime soon. She rejects the idea, not thinking she is ready, and Jesse arrives with a bunch of flowers. He congratulates her on she and Noah being back together, and as she goes to get a vase, Jesse sits down for a quiet word with Flynn. He doesn’t want to mention the Alex thing to Hayley until the money has been sorted out. Hayley gets suss about the whispering, but Jesse passes it off as work stuff, enquiring how she is settling back in. She wants to concentrate on getting better, and he remarks that she looks “nearly as good as new”, resulting in her voicing her concern that her face will never be the way it was. She refuses to listen to Flynn and Jesse telling her otherwise, and walks out.
BLAXLAND
Alf reluctantly allows Scott to have another ten minutes and lo and behold, under a minute later Scott spots a sign of life onland. As Kane steers closer, Scott recognises it as being ‘Bob’, waving his arms in the air at the boat. Scott takes off his short and dives straight into the water, heading for the beach
GYM
Jesse recites Hayley’s fears to Sally as he helps with her workout, and the conversation moves to the Alex problem – business isn’t booming, and it’ll be tough finding an investor. Sally sees the place as having potential, and voices interest at putting money into it herself. Rhys rushes in to ask Jesse to mind the kiosk – he’s had a call from Beth, and there’s something wrong with Kirsty.
BLAXLAND
Alf and Kane help Bob and Scott back into the boat, and as Kane takes his kit, Alf and Scott give him a drink and enquire bout what happened ‘out there’. He is adamant that his wife is ‘gone’ – he tried to help her, and when he tried to look for her his oxygen ran out. He tries walking through the bush, but it was too thick, and he knew nothing of the cops – theirs was the first boat he saw. Kane glances at the reading on his tank, and noticing somthing amiss he calls Alf aside. Bob still had half a tank of oxygen – he’s lying. Alf mulls the theory over – his story about not seeing the cops didn’t make sense, as they couldn’t have missed him the way he was waving his arms around. Kane has a new theory – what if it was a setup and he wanted to kill his wife?
THE PALACE
Dani arrives back from Uni, handing Hayley some cards from her mates. Hayley tells her that Flynn called round, and informed her that the scarring ‘wouldn’t fade for a while’, and gets angry and upset when Dani tries to tell her that her face is fine. She doesn’t want to be lied to or protected.
Rhys enters, bearing bad news for Dani – they’ve had a call from Shelley, and Kirsty has “lost the baby”…
