***
BEACH
Tasha worries about Kirsty, and Robbie almost half-heartedly assures her that Kirsty will be fine. Tasha doesn’t seem to be taking heed of his words, and goes on to worry about what Kane would do if anything happened to Kirsty until Robbie tells her to stop freaking him out – he’s trying to be positive. They come across Duncan, and although Tasha wants them to do a runner before the toad spots them, Robbie comvinces her to tough it out. Robbie cheerily greets Duncan, wanting to forgive and forget, and although Duncan is initially nasty as ever, he tells Robbie that he can forgive him – but he can’t forgive Tasha. She was on his team, and she double-crossed him. Right on cue, Duncan steps in to make a snide remark about she being like her mother, and Tasha looks increasingly distressed as he proceeds to swagger away down the beach. Tasha walks off alone, leaving Robbie all by himself in the middle of the beach.
FLYNN’S PLACE
Tasha has rocked up to see Flynn, and she tells him that she has been told she is like her mother – it doesn’t matter who said it; she just wants to know if she is. Flynn gives her a straightout ‘no’ – Angie was a troubled woman. Tasha has heard all the rumours though – she was more than treoubled – she was BAD, and she thinks she’s going to inherit it. Flynn explains that you inherit eye colour etc – not bad blood. Tasha refuses to believe it.
DINER
They are understaffed at the diner, and as Duncan enters, Alf and Colleen discuss their options – hiring someone, or help from Irene, or Brenda from the boules team. Duncan is grumpy that he didn’t get a word of greeting when he came in, and that he wasn’t asked for help. Alf had assumed that he wouldn’t be interested, but as far as Duncan’s concerned, that’s not the point. He wants to be shown some respect, but Alf tells him that he must deserve respect. Needless to say, Duncan isn’t over the moon.
HOSPITAL
Flynn tells Leah that all is looking good, but she can’t leave until things have settled down. She wonders what would happen if the baby did come, and Flynn warns of respiratory distress, before telling her not to worry, as everything seems to be working. He tells her he’ll be back to see her in the morning.
FLYNN’S PLACE
Rhys tells Flynn of his decision to get in touch with Laura – he won’t mention the transplant, and will just invite Laura to see her sister. He hopes that he won’t have to mention the issue of them wanting to make off with one of her kidneys, but if no one else is a match she will be an option. It transpires that Dani isn’t a match for Kirsty either, but they still have hope in the form of Shelley, who is soon to return. Rhys doesn’t know what they will do if they are unable to find a donor.
CARAVAN PARK
Robbie is admiring a fishskin bikini on the net, and Tasha seems uninspired. Instead, she rushes straight to Rhys’ side when he walks through the door to enquire about Kirsty and offer to be tested if no one else is a match. She mentions that it’s a shame he’s not her Dad after all – she’d have more chance of being a match. After she has gone, Rhys remarks that she’s a “good kid”, before leaving to get changed – he’s going to the hospital.
HOSPITAL
Kirsty watches shakily as a heavily pregnant woman is wheeled through the hospital, breathing heavily. Her thoughts are interrupted by the arrival of Rhys and Beth, and she tells them that she was only up because she went to the toilet. Beth has brought magazines, but Kirsty’s mind is concentrated on the fact that Dani wasn’t a match. Rhys is staying positive though – there’s other options. He casually mentions that he’s spoken to Laura “about what’s going on”, and she’ll be coming down. Kirsty is adamant that they won’t ask her, and Rhys assures her that he hasn’t mentioned the possibility of her being a donor, but if it’s necessary them he will. Kirsty won’t be moved though, and refuses the idea of taking Laura’s kidney – she’s not even part of the family. Beth reminds her that Laura will be identical in every way and after all, they wanted to be a part of one anothers lives. Funnily enough, Kirsty didn’t interpret it in quite the same way as “hello, welcome to the family, how about giving me one of your kidneys”. Beth wants Kirsty to let Laura make her own mind up, and Kirsty gets frustrated at the fact she is causing everyone so much trouble.
BEACH HOUSE
Tasha muses that everyone is lining up to help Kirsty, and twists it into a conversation about her evil mother, and how few people she reckons she’d have to help her. Kim kindly offers her his Dad, and the pair of them sit down to talk parents. Kim misses his Mum, and can no longer remember what she looks like, but he still has memories of her. Tasha wishes she had memories… but if she met Angie then perhaps she’d think differently. Tasha is determined to locate her Dad one day – because if she’s not like her Mum, then she must be like him.
DINER
Colleen tells Flynn a horror story about the havoc that pregnancy played with her waterworks – in particular an incident in a supermarket when she was reaching up to get some frozen peas and she sneezed… Flynn makes a quick getaway, exchanging a brief word with Tasha as she comes in.
She recieves a less than raptuous welcome from Duncan, charming as ever – “Tasha, T for Traitor Andrews”, who is expecting an apology. He’s not in luck, as she just wants to know why he said those things about her Mum. Duncan explains that Angie was evil… and she was also a maneater… or rather a boyeater, and speculates that if she were still alive she’d have her claws into Robbie. Duncan throws Stephen Ross into the equatuion – they went to school together, and Angie messed him up so badly that now he’s in the loony bin. Tasha brands him a liar, but Duncan promises to prove it to her.
BREAK
HOSPITAL
Leah is free to go home, as all is still well in the morning. He advises her to get more rest, and recommends that someone take VJ off her hands – even Jesse. Leah rejects the idea – she misses VJ when she’s on her own, and she’s not going to use Jesse as a babysitter. Flynn assures her that she can always contact him – either on his mobile or via his pager. He and Sally will be there for her.
SCHOOL
Tasha refuses to tell Robbie what’s troubling her, and rejects his attempt to cheer her up – she needs time alone to think, and doesn’t want to muck around. Duncan swaggers onto the scene to present Tasha with a tape to prove what he told her – and parental guidance is recommended.
HOSPITAL
Kirsty wanders out of the room, telling the nurse that she’s glad to be off the dialysis machine for the day. The woman who earlier Kirsty watched being wheeled to maternity returns, complete with husband and newborn, and they’re all heading home already. Kirsty takes an interest, coo-ing at the child and asking her name – Chloe. Both mother and child are doing well, and they bid Kirsty good luck before walking off. Kirsty is left looking pretty teary.
BEACH HOUSE
Tasha watches Nick and Seb’s school project – the one that led to Angie’s downfall. On it, Angie taunts Nick about how she wound him around her little finger, how she was only ever playing with him, and how he is a boy “in every sense of the word”. Tasha’s viewing is interrupted by Irene returning home, and Tasha is devastated to haev discovered that all the bad things she said about her Mum were true. She cries into Irene’s arms.
DINER
Irene lets rip to Alf about his son’s cruel and vicious behaviour – Tasha is “beside herself”, and all Alf can do is promise to talk to the boy in question. Irene reckons “tanning his backside” would be a better option – he’s getting payback for the stupid wargames, and she won’t have it. She can’t believe Seb held onto the tape anyway – Angie caused enough problems when she was breathing. Alf finally gets a word in edgeways – he’ll talk to his son, and if he thought a kick up the backside would do Duncan any good then he’d give him one. Irene can’t understand how a child of Alf’s could have grown up like that, and Alf requests that she let him know if she can find an answer.
SCHOOL
Tasha arrives back to find Kim and Robbie at school, and the latter wants to know what was on the tape that has obviously upset her. Tasha tells Robbie that he’s so good, and that she can’t be his girlfriend anymore. He doesn’t understand, but she is convinced that she’ll end up hurting him and that it’s better “this way”. He shouts after her, but all she can do is apologise – “it’s over”.
Duncan is walking away from school when a furious Robbie catches up with him, demanding to know what he has done to Tasha – what was on the tape. Duncan smirks, claiming he was only trying to help Tasha see what her Mum was like – and now she knows. The video showed Angie at her best – a manipulative sleze – and the altercation turns violent when Duncan compares Angie to Jack, and hints that Jack had women stashed everywhere – he’s probably got hundreds of siblings he knew nothing about. They take to rolling around in the dirt together, and as a crowd gathers, Kim pulls them apart. Tasha watches from a distance, before running away.
HOSPITAL
Kirsty is half asleep when Flynn comes in to see her, and she is still upset and drained at having to be hooked up to the dialysis machine daily. Flynn assures her that it IS doing its job, before going to check the monitor thingie beside her bed. He looks somewhat concerned – it’s her blood pressure, and it’s not stablising, so they must start thinking of other options. Kirsty tells him that she doesn’t want more drugs that could harm her baby, wanting assurance that he baby will be fine. Flynn is unable to give her the reassurance she wants, but tells her to stay relaxed – because the high blood pressure could result in a stroke. He is quick to tell her that he doesn’t want to scare her (!), but she needs to know the truth. He also informs her that the baby is likely to have already been damaged by the medicine, and its chances are dropping daily. Kirsty is trying to be optimistic, but the chances are slim – more drugs will pose more of a threat, but she will be at rish if they don’t use them. Flynn tells her that if she gets through the treatment, there’s every chance of her having more babies, and tells her that her best option would be termination. The longer they struggle to keep the baby alive, the greater at risk she is. Kirsty looks horrified.
CARAVAN PARK
Robbie arrives home, and Beth instantly picks up on the scratches on his face, forcing him to admit that he was fighting. Beth is shocked – he of all people. Robbie muses that its been a “great day”, what with Tasha dumping him as well, and a whack in the face was nothing after that. He is also amused by the fact that he was actually fighting to defend Jack’s honour.
HOSPITAL
Flynn is unable to find Kirsty in her room, despite the nurse having seen her five minutes beforehand. He stares worriedly at the swingdoors… it seems that Kirsty has gone walkabouts.
