Extended Summary

Henry has a troubled first day back at school after his (false) confession to the cops. Dalby and Wazza gloat over their victory while Henry and friends fume helplessly – Henry’s lie must be maintained. Hyde lays down the law – Henry is not to seek revenge against Dalby and Wazza. Poor old Henry is obviously bitter at the injustice that has been dealt to him. Dan tries to counsel him, but it’s not going to be easy.

Matilda’s friends are eager to get the latest gossip on Henry, but all Matilda wants to talk about is Kim. She is still deluded that she is the apple of lusty Kim’s eye. Her friends are (understandably) boggle eyed at the suggestion.

Dalby’s pressuring Alf for the reward money. Dan reassures Alf that he is determined to find a way to keep Dalby’s slimy hands off the money. Dan subtly quizzes Hyde for helpful information. Dalby was expelled from Yabbie Creek High for a prank that went wrong. Dan is surprised that Hyde would take on a student with behavioural problems. Hyde defends each student’s right to an education. However, it is clear that Hyde is more interested in Dalby’s skill in the pool. He’s sees Dalby as the perfect replacement for Kim in the swim team.

Colleen’s all a-flutter over the possibility that Tasha might redevelop the caravan park – leaving her homeless. She corners Tasha and quizzes her on her plans. Tasha humours Colleen and lets her think that she plans to keep the park as is. In reality, Tasha is still very much undecided.

While Kirsty studies away with Sally, Kane is recuperating in secret at Sally and Flynn’s house after his operation. He’s in pain, alone and miserable. And he has a new dilemma – how will he keep his impending chemotherapy from Kirsty? Flynn suggests that she might be able to postpone her exams on compassionate grounds. But Kane is committed to the charade – he is adamant that he is not going to interfere with her exams in any way. His charade is almost becoming an obsession and the emotional cracks are starting to show. He is later discovered hacking at his hair with scissors. He wants to shave his head before the chemo makes it fall out. He’s on the verge of tears, almost begging for help. Flynn tries to calm him and sends Colleen for the clippers. Meanwhile, Kirsty is telling Sally that regardless of how her HSC goes, she’s decided that she is not going to go to university.

Dan spots Dalby tormenting Addison. However, when Hyde approaches, Dalby’s behaviour changes. It’s clear that Dalby is trying to present himself to Hyde as a model student. Could this be the Achilles heel that Dan has been looking for?

Kane rubs a hand across his newly shaved scalp and tells Flynn and Colleen that with their help he knows he can do it. And Kirsty won’t have a clue.
