Extended Summary
Dalby is the topic of the day in Summer Bay. How did he end up in hospital, beaten to a pulp? But Matilda has her mind on other things – namely Kim. She rolls up and unloads a melodrama on him. She knows he likes her so why won’t he come out and say it? If it’s because he thinks Beth won’t appreciate the age gap, then maybe they should go and tell her together? Kim feels lousy, but slightly amused, knowing he should have dealt with this earlier. Jesse walks in and saves him. Matilda says they’ll talk about it later that night.
Robbie lets Henry know Matilda has mistaken Kim’s feelings for Kit to be feelings for her. Henry thinks it’s a cack. He lets Matilda know what he thinks (against Robbie’s wishes). Matilda is incensed. She bails up Kim and tells him she hates him. Kim can’t do a thing.
Robbie and Tasha try a bit of detective work to find out what happened to Dalby. Dan tells them Dalby was found in the street in Yabbie Creek, not in the bush. Robbie is convinced the cops didn’t bash the bully. But who did?
Kirsty arrives for her HSC chemistry exam at the same time Kane arrives for his chemo. They are both facing personal trials together in a strange symbiotic way. Kane is nearly discovered by Dani and Scott on their way to visit Viv but he manages to get out of it with the help of some white lies from Flynn. Dani’s suspicions are raised, but she’s got more important issues to deal with.
Alf gets all dressed up for his visit with Viv. But he’s still unsure if he’ll actually go. A chance meeting with Hayley on the beach forces the issue. She tells him that you never really get over someone you really love – especially when it’s sudden. Alf is struck by the truth of this. He knows he has to face up to Viv.
Harper and another police officer visit the school to question Robbie and Tasha. Did Robbie and Tasha keep mum about their knowledge of the crop? Robbie lies and says yes. But Dan picks the lie and persuades them to tell Harper. Harper says he realises there’s bad blood between Robbie and Dalby, but he has to stay out things from now on. But Robbie has a burning need to know who bashed Dalby.
Viv’s heart takes a turn for the worse and things look grim for a while. Alf thinks he might have come so close yet so far. But Viv recovers and the two of them share a heartfelt and emotional reunion.
