Extended Summary
It’s the morning after Irene’s meeting with Ian Osborne. Kirsty is reminded that she has to be out of the beach house between 12 and 2pm – the exterminators are coming. Colleen visits Kane and tries to lift his spirits with a cake. He’s doing it tough – feeling deathly ill from his treatment and missing his wife terribly. He’s looking forward to next week when her exams are over and he can finally tell her the truth about his condition.
Tasha tries to warn Kim that Matilda is itching to use a new move she learned in self-defence class today. Tasha thinks Kim will be her target. But he’s not worried. He says he can handle it. Later Matilda arrives at the gym. Before she can speak, Kim launches into a lecture on the appropriate use of self-defence techniques – they’re for defence, not attack. She agrees with him. But she decks him anyway.
Seeing the battered Dalby at school leaves Beth concerned for the welfare of her kids. She talks to Dan about Dalby. She also asks if there is anything that her kids have done that she should know about. He reassures her that there’s no need to worry. He’s on the case and can handle that brat Dalby. However, Dalby overheard everything and feels betrayed by Dan. He lashes out and tells Beth that her kids are somehow involved in the recent dope crop scandal. Beth is shocked. She’s also disappointed that Dan kept this from her. Later Dan confronts Dalby and tries get through to the troubled teen using a tougher approach. Dan makes it clear that he’s had enough of Dalby’s appalling behaviour, but will be here for him if and when he’s ready to open up.
Dani has a surprise for Viv – the book is finally finished. But Viv shocks Dani by saying the book is not finished. Viv now wants the book to tell the complete story. She hands over some handwritten notes to Dani for inclusion in the book. Scott is waiting outside for Dani and almost spots a heavily disguised Kane as he dashes past for his treatment. Dani feels she can’t tell Scott what’s in Viv’s notes – no one else should learn of these shocking secrets before Alf. Later Scott asks Dani if their relationship is ok? Of course, she says. She attributes his feels to her being secretive over the book and devoting too much time to it. But Scott hides a feeling that there is something more coming between them.
Alf has an amazing surprise for Viv. While she’s waiting for her parole hearing in 2 weeks times, Morag has arranged a day release for her next Tuesday. She will finally get to see the Bay again. She is overwhelmed both by her love for Alf and her excitement over finally being able to walk in the real world once more. When Alf is gone, she rings Dani and tells her that the book must be finished by Tuesday – that’s when she will tell Alf everything.
Beth corners Henry, Matilda and Robbie at school and tells them there will be a family meeting tonight to discuss their behaviour. She’s not happy and there are going to be changes.
Kane is about to go into Sally and Flynn’s house just as Kirsty emerges from the surgery. She spots him. Kane – is that you?
