Stafford makes an incredible proposal to Dani. Why is Kirsty sneaking around behind Kane’s back? Beth is out to punish the Hunter kids.
STAFFORD McRAE (ROHAN NICHOL)
Return appearance, last seen in Episode #3842. Visited the Bay to offer Dani an amazing deal on her manuscript.
Extended Summary
Kane is surprised that Kirsty is not mad at him for lying to her. In fact – she loves him more than ever for going to so much trouble for her. Now she just has to pay him back by passing her exams. Flynn thinks Kane’s subterfuge helped him absorb the shock of what was happening. In trying to help Kirsty – he actually helped himself.
Stafford visits Irene to inform her that the Beach house is now free of cameras. As for Josie, Osborne has all but cut her loose. He will cover her rent in the apartment until the end of the year, her investments and bills relating to the bar – until it opens, and any ideas Tasha has for the caravan park. In return, Josie is to stay close to Tasha and discourage any ideas she may have about contacting her father. Stafford also reminds her that she owes him a favour…
Irene has told the Beach House occupants that the house is being sprayed for bugs to cover for the removal of the cameras. Kane says that means he can’t go back for a couple of days. (The chemicals would make him sick because chemo weakens the immune system). It gives Kirsty a great idea: He and Kirsty will rent out their old caravan for a couple of days and get a bit of romance back into their lives. It’ll also give Kirsty the chance for some quality study-time.
Tasha offers to help Josie in any way she needs because Jesse said she had to look after her. She wonders if her troubles had anything to do with Stafford. Josie assures her she’s seen the last of him; think again. Stafford has an interesting proposal for Dani. He claims to be a representative of the publishing arm of Osborne Industries. They want to publish Viv’s book and are willing to give a $2,000 contract for first right of refusal. Dani is flabbergasted, and so is Josie when she finds out. She rings Stafford and warns him not to butter up Dani Sutherland. Stafford reminds her that if he’s doing it for Ian, it’s none of her business – and if he’s doing it for himself, she owes him a favour – so butt out. Dani is big enough to look after herself.
A furious Beth calls a meeting of the Sutherland clan. She’s sick of hearing important news second-hand. First Henry and the Kiosk, then Robbie and the dope crop, now Matilda attacking Kim. As punishment, she will take Flynn’s surgery as her room when they move. Protests fall on deaf ears. It’s time for them to start acting like adults.
Josie thanks Irene for whatever she said to Osborne that made him treat her so leniently. She will be making her home in the Bay for the foreseeable future. Irene says as long as Josie doesn’t hurt Tasha, Jesse or Hayley, things will be sweet. Kane and Kirsty’s first night in the caravan is charged with feeling. It’s obvious the two of them are entering a deeper stage in their love for each other. Kirsty vows to blitz the exams so that Kane will never have to wonder whether he caused her to fail or not. Kane says he’s worried about the physics exam – that’s her weak point. Later that night as Kane sleeps, we see Kirsty finish a text message and press SEND. The name she selects from her address book is…LAURA. What is Kirsty up to?
