Extended Summary
Leah has dragged Flynn into Peter’s hospital room – she’s convinced Peter opened his eyes and looked at her. But when Flynn examines him, he seems still deep in his coma. Perhaps it was a false alarm.
A seemingly distraught Tasha tells Josie that Robbie’s become cynical about relationships and dumped her. He thinks if Josie and Jesse can’t make it work, who can?! (Of course it’s all a ruse. Tasha is hoping her and Robbie’s pretend break up will help Josie and Jesse see the error of their ways and reconcile). Josie totally falls for her act and promises to talk to Robbie.
By the time Dan arrives at the hospital, Peter has emerged from his coma. Flynn explains to Dan and Leah that Peter was initially extremely confused and scattered. Peter is overjoyed when he finally sees them, especially Leah! Peter is convinced that he and Leah are lovers. Everyone else is totally shocked. Flynn thinks that Peter must have fashioned this false reality whilst in his coma. Peter later accepts that he and Leah are not a couple, but is very confused. He still feels immense love for Leah.
After school, Matilda and Henry start working on Beth. While Tasha is hoping the break up ruse will help reconcile Josie and Jesse, Matilda hopes to use it to put Beth off relationships (and therefore keep her safe from Hyde.) The kids prattle on and try to fill Beth’s head with negative notions about relationships. Later Hyde (innocently) drops by. When Beth doesn’t ask him to stay for dinner, the kids assume their scheme is working on her.
Robbie (acting miserable) meets with Josie and tells her why he and Tasha broke up. Josie says Robbie shouldn’t assume everyone will hurt him; he should treat each person individually. Robbie says she can’t possibly believe that – after all, she didn’t do that with Jesse. Meanwhile Tasha is working on Jesse. She tells him that Robbie gave up on her just like he gave up on Josie. He wasn’t willing to fight for his love. (The cunning teenagers are holding up mirrors to Josie and Jesse and forcing them to re-examine their actions).
Josie comes looking for Jesse and they finally start to communicate. Jesse tells her he’s going to fight for her; Josie tells him she’s willing to take a chance and see if he’s different to all the other men in her past. They head off to the Diner to celebrate. Beth and the kids have arrived for some dessert. She spots Jesse and Josie in a booth, gazing romantically into each others eyes. Beth tells Robbie that surely that’s enough to restore his faith in love. Matilda and Henry are furious – they think all their hard work to make Beth bitter about love has been ruined.
Peter remembers what Vinnie told him before his accident. Peter tells Leah that Vinnie said he still loves her and wants her to be with him.
